Caribbean Harry's Coming to Decatur Square

December 2, 2008 | 8:22 pm

Guess what’s taking over Birdi’s space?

That’s right!  Caribbean Harry’s!  Actually I don’t know much about it, other than what the sign said but I figured it deserved a couple exclamation points.

So what else did the sign say?  “Coming Soon.  Caribbean Harry’s.  Lunch and Dinner Bar.  Live Reggae Music.”

Yep…I think that was about it.

Actually I’m excited about this! We need something new around here. Not that I don’t love Thai and Mexican and pizza, but something different will be a welcome change. I hope it’s in the po’ folks price range.

Ja, Mon! I’m sure some folks were initially laying down the buzzkill on Julie’s Cafe, too (Clairemont and Ponce). But she continues to stick, servin’ up some of the finest jerk chicken around.

    One love, y’all.

I believe Julie’s is closed Scott. Rose Squared is now in that space.

I thought Rose Squared was in the space next door, where the jewelry maker now next to Starbucks used to be. Don’t be telling me no more meat pies!

The scariest thing about all of this is I think you’re the one that reported it. See below…

I am happy to report that Julies is alive an well. She is still trying to sell but she is there everyday for lunch. I work in the Masonic Temple building and eat there a least once a week. Try her chicken soup. Julie and her staff have to win an award for nicest people in town.

Don’t be jumping to conclusions now, ma bruddah. She may be “closing” but she ain’t — I hope — closed just yet.

Oh…OK. My apologies! I’m very happy to hear they’re still open!

I patronize Julie’s frequently. It’s hands-down the best value for downtown lunch in my book, and it’s always a pleasure seeing Julie.
