Original Owner Promises to Return Crescent Moon to "Its Previous Stature"

August 25, 2008

Only on Decatur Metro!  (Yes, I know I’m a hack…)

Former and original owner of Crescent Moon, Rob Atherholt, recently wrote in to the previous post regarding the restaurant’s Chapter 11 filing and gives us hope for the future.

“Hi to everyone- I was just informed of the blog. This is Rob the founder and former operator of Crescent Moon. I am sad that the purchasers have destroyed the name I worked so hard to build for 13 years. The Chapter 11 filing will most likely revert the lease back to me and I will make sure that the restaurant returns to its previous stature.
The judge will decide what happens. I may have to change the name. Be on the look out!”

Great news!

Wow! I look forward to it! Our photo is on the wall as “regulars” but we haven’t been in a year! Come back Rob!

This is great news! I ate at the Decatur location many times for breakfast and brunch, and enjoyed it very much. This was years ago when it was run by the original owner. I was sorry when I heard Crescent Moon was closing, but now am hopeful again. Good luck Rob!

I used to work at both Crescent Moons, Decatur and North Lake. Rob was a phenomenal owner and manager and I wish you the best Rob and your former employees are wishing you the best!

Here’s hoping for the best! The Northlake location has really been run into the ground, too.

OMG! Could it really be true? We are lost w/o a effective owner or managers.
    We miss you Rob!

This is great news for your ex but faithful employees, Rob. Many of us have been hanging on, because it seemed only a matter of time before something like this happened.
Although it probably wasn’t part of your long term plans, I hope it is good news for you and C as well, and that everything works out in your favor. You know you have our support, and we’ll help you put things right.

Woohoo! This is great news — will definitely keep my eyes peeled for your return! I imagine it’ll be obvious — when the mirrors and neon are gone?

This is GREAT NEWS. From a customer perspective, we noticed the change in food quality immediately, but didn’t know that once of our fave restaruants had been sold. When we found that out, it explained everything.

Last time I went (the Decatur location, always. Never been to the other) was Feb or Mar of this year. My smashed taters tasted sour. I thought they’d changed the recipe. When I flew out of bed at 3a.m. to violently purge them from my body, I kicked myself for not recognizing that I’d been poisoning myself by eating them.

After an entire night on the bathroom floor, I haven’t been back since and won’t until I get the green light from you all that Rob’s incredible quality control has been restored.

I do love Thumbs Up but I’ll miss the waffle batter pancakes and the skinless fried chicken and meatloaf from Crescent Moon’s menu. At this point I am just happy to hear some positive news. Any chance they can give those recipes to Thumbs Up?!
