Tour deCatur Hits the Streets This Saturday Morning

    Decatur Metro | March 9, 2016 | 11:08 am

    def-tour-de-Catur-2016-Xorbia-650px-rev

Are you all ready for Tour deCatur this Saturday?

    No?  We’ll attempt to help…

The event kicks off Saturday morning with the 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk at 8:30a, followed by the 5k at 9a and the “Tot Trot” at 10am. Staging area is Decatur High School at 310 N. McDonough.  On-site, race day registration will begin at 7:45am.

You can view the map for this year’s 5k HERE.  The Tour deCatur benefits the Decatur Education Foundation.

But there’s more!  There are two pre-race locations to pick up your race number and t-shirt ahead of time.

First, on Thursday March 10th you can pick up your number and shirt at Fleet Feet at 421 West Ponce from 4p-7p.

Second, you can pick up your number and shirt at the “Tour deCatur EXPO” at Ebster Recreation Center at 404 W. Trinity on Friday, March 11 from 4p-7:30p.  If you show up for this event, you will also be able to watch a bunch of good-sport CSD teachers take a pie in the face.  You can find more pre-race info and the full list of teachers HERE.

Though race #s and shirts will be available on Saturday, due to the expected high turnout, they are strongly urging everyone to pick up their race # in advance if at all possible.  According to the DEF website, “Picking up your number and shirt in advance will allow you to bypass the lines on Saturday morning and go straight to the football field at Decatur High School, which will be the waiting area for both the 1-mile and 5k races.”

New Route for Tour deCatur May Cause Delays in Downtown Decatur This Saturday

    Decatur Metro | March 20, 2013 | 2:03 pm

Decatur Active Living’s Cheryl Burnette sends along this notice…

This Saturday, the annual Tour deCatur Run/Walk will be occurring in downtown Decatur. Due to the storm water construction in front of Decatur High School, the route will vary from past years. The new route begins on Commerce in back of the high school, then turns right on Trinity. The one mile Fun Run will begin on N McDonough next to Chick-Fil-A and turn right on Trinity as well. The new starts will result in a temporary road closure on East Trinity Place.

There will also be short road closures on N. McDonough from West Howard to Trinity Place and on Commerce from West Howard to West Trinity Place.

Please be patient with the race and consider taking a which works to help Decatur youth realize their full potential, not only in the classroom but also through learning experiences that contribute to personal development.

    Decatur Metro | February 11, 2011 | 10:43 am

The Decatur Education Foundation sends along this alert…

Online registration for Tour deCatur is now OPEN!

It’s time. Time to register for the 9th annual Tour deCatur Road Race! This year we are thrilled to have Mizuno as our presenting sponsor. Visit our newly launched website www.decatureducationfoundation.org for info and online registration. New this year, register a team of 6 and compete for special team prizes. Every dollar raised helps provide opportunities for the children of our community. See you there!

Also new this year, we are excited to be part of the inaugural year of Decatur’s Grand Slam Fitness Challenge that encourages Decatur community members to walk/run year round. In September, the City formed Team Decatur to participate in the annual Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk and received the Most Fit City award! Decatur Active Living wants to keep the city fit and has offered a new challenge to both runners and walkers. Register for and participate in four out of six upcoming Decatur-based races (Tour deCatur qualifies) in 2011, and hit a “Grand Slam.” For more information about how Tour deCatur will help you achieve a GRAND SLAM in fitness, visit http://beactivedecatur.wordpress.com/2010/12/01/grand-slam-fitness-challenge.
