Cakes & Ale Cafe To Begin Serving Wine & Small Plates

    Decatur Metro | October 2, 2014 | 5:01 pm

Decatur restaurant mainstay, Cakes & Ale, is shifting the focus of its secondary neighboring space next to its flagship location from a bakery to a cafe, which also will serve wine and small plates in the evening.

Co-owner Kristin Allin explained to us this afternoon that with the majority of the Cakes & Ale bakery team moving from Decatur to the forthcoming “Bread & Butterfly” location in Inman Park, the Allins “felt this was a great opportunity to expand the wine & beverage services we can offer our guests”.

Allin continued, “The cafe will still offer pastries and coffee/espresso bar during the day but will expand at night to a wine and small plate bar.  Lunch will move into the Cakes and Ale restaurant side next week to allow us to expand our lunch service.”

As for the “wine shop” that was originally rumored, Allin says while they have a retail wine license, they are selling retail wine only by request at this time.

Support Decatur Farm-To-School with Dinner and/or a Movie

    Decatur Metro | March 31, 2010 | 1:16 pm

    …on different days!

Kristin Allin of Cakes & Ale sends along ways in which you can enjoy a couple evenings out in April and help support Decatur’s Farm-To-School program.  For those clamoring for a Decatur movie theater, attending the movie might be warranted if only to see how  DHS’ new auditorium serves as a movie theater.

To all who want to help promote healthy foods for Decatur’s schools: please, please make plans to come out to one or both of these events in April! Both events need our participation to succeed and help raise funds for the Decatur Farm to School Initiative. Want to see a Sundance “Official Selection” film? Come to DHS on Saturday, April 17th for a screening of Dirt! The Movie. Need a date night? Family night? Girls or guys night out? Tuesday, April 20th is a great day to do so and help this cause while you’re having fun! Lastly, be sure to thank these participating businesses for helping raise funds and awareness for healthy foods in our schools.

    Details after the jump.
