City Commission To Decide on Drive-Thru Juice Bar After Planning Commission Recommends Denial

    Decatur Metro | April 19, 2015 | 10:10 am

Among the items being tossed from the Planning Commission to the Decatur City Commission on Monday night is the request for exemptions to the city’s Special Pedestrian Area by Redstone Investments, the owner of 315 West Ponce de Leon Ave, to build out an I Love Juice Bar drive-thru in place of the Wells Fargo drive-thru on the building’s eastern elevation.

Last week, the Planning Commission unanimously recommended denial of the request after numerous residents spoke out in opposition to the plan to retain the existing drive-thru and add additional parking to the site.

The plan requires an exemption since drive-thrus and streetside parking are not allowed in the city’s Special Pedestrian Areas.  As you can see from this map, Ponce Place is included in this area up to its intersection with Montgomery Street.

The Decatur City Commission will have the final say tomorrow night.

UPDATED: Highland Bakery Opening Decatur Location at 315 West Ponce

    Decatur Metro | March 31, 2015 | 11:44 am

UPDATE: I initially missed that TNT linked to a Redstone lease plan that showed the three new retailers and their location in the building.  From the plan, it looks like Highland Bakery will buildout in the western most retail location (also show in the pic above), Orangetheory would build out the center space and Taziki’s would take the eastern spot.

They are also listed on Redstone’s website.

Tomorrow’s News Today reports that Highland Bakery is one of three new tenants opening in the first floor retail space of “The Place on Ponce” building at 315 West Ponce de Leon Ave.  Decatur would be Highland Bakery’s third sixth Atlanta location.

The site also reports that Orangetheory Fitness and Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe will take the remaining two spots in the building’s retail space.

Additionally, TNT reports that “I Love Juice Bar” is the juice bar looking to open a drive-thru location in the 315 West Ponce office building.  As we reported yesterday, that plan is scheduled to go before the Decatur Planning Commission this month.

We’ve reached out to the 315 folks for confirmation on this report.
