Bill Floyd Endorses Scott Drake for Decatur City Commission Seat

    Decatur Metro | March 15, 2013 | 12:00 pm

Scott Drake’s campaign just sent out the following announcement…

Former Decatur Mayor Bill Floyd announces his support for Scott Drake for City Commission in the upcoming Special Election. “I have worked with Scott for the past 15 years. Scott is committed to Decatur and its neighborhoods. Scott has the experience and vision our community needs to take advantage of the opportunities and meet the challenges that we will face as we move forward,” said Bill Floyd in his endorsement. Mr. Floyd resigned from the City Commission in January 2013. “Mr. Floyd’s approach, personality, actions, and service have shaped our city and we owe him a great deal of gratitude for his service. I am excited to have the endorsement of former Mayor Floyd and, if elected, I look forward to working with him, the current Mayor and Commissioners, our great City staff, and my neighbors,” said Scott Drake.

Greg Coleson Officially Announces Candidacy for City Commission

    Decatur Metro | February 18, 2013 | 12:54 pm

Greg Coleson sends along his official announcement of his bid for Bill Floyd’s open commission seat. Here it is in full…

    Decatur City Commissioner, District 1

    February 18, 2013

I am excited to announce my candidacy for Decatur City Commissioner,
District 1. Decatur has been in the forefront of national, state and
local news, for our schools, our businesses, our food, our community
and our ideas and innovations. I am genuinely thankful to our City
officials and Decatur citizens for building a community we are proud
    to call home.

I have a deep commitment to Decatur, Georgia. I love living here,
working here, raising my family here. Naturally, I want Decatur to be
the very best it can be. My wife and I founded the non-profit Decatur
    Farmers Market ( www.decaturfarmersmarket.com ) in 2002 because we
wanted our daughter and all of Decatur’s children to grow up
understanding the importance of fresh, locally produced food, and for
the community to have another gathering space to indulge in common
interests. The more people get together, the more they tend to care
about each other, which is at the root of a strong community.
