The History Hidden in the Walls is an interesting article. Over 20 years ago in my Decatur house while making some repairs, I found some Topps and Post Cereal baseball/football cards encased between the ceiling and the upstairs floor next to a laundry chute. They were 1960 – 1961 cards including Stan Musial, Duke Snyder, Don Larsen, Lindy McDaniel, Jose Pagan, Bart Starr, Doug Atkins, Alex Karras and others. Before you assume they are worth a fortune, the kid that hid them there trimmed the edges for some reason making them worthless.

Here’s an article about the practice of placing shoes inside of walls. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/08/19/the-strange-reason-why-this-old-shoe-was-hidden-in-a-wall-at-a-british-university/?utm_term=.f42d3afefa33
