Decatur Mayor Pro-Tem Kecia Cunningham Resigns From Commission
Decatur Metro | August 18, 2015 | 10:52 amMayor Pro-Tem Kecia Cunningham resigned from the Decatur City Commission at the conclusion of last night’s meeting after 16 years of public service.
You can listen to her words yourself HERE under the “Reports and Other Business” tab.
Big thanks to the Mayor Pro-Tem for her years of service and all the best to her in the future.

Kecia’s been a solid civil servant for a good long time and I wish her luck. And if I was on the commission, I’d be planning my exit as well. It’s a whole-different constituency now than it was back in the day. I wouldn’t want to attempt to govern any of y’all . . . and certainly not your new neighbors.
You’re just trying to get one of your squirrel-headed ilk in a position of power. I’ll be keeping an eye on my bird feeder AND the ballot box this November…
Regretfully, SHB, I must agree with you. Wish you weren’t right.
This is a loss to the city and another sign of the way things are changing, not always for the better. Thank you for your years of service, and good luck in your new adventure.
And yes, I think you managed to “cry pretty”.
We will miss Kecia very much for she was such a great leader and advocate for district 2. We wish her nothing but happiness, health, fulfillment, and joy with her new opportunity. Her perspective and experience will be missed but never forgotten. Good luck!
Here’s wishing Mayor Pro-tem Cunningham godspeed in her journey, and all the best for the future. Hope her replacement is a long-time Decaturite, but if not, at least someone whose focus will include ALL residents’ needs.
Cubalibre, I think you should run.
Hmmmmm… 😀
I would campaign for you if I still lived there.
stg, you might not be able to vote but you can still campaign!
And indeed I will, until I leave town completely.
There is a well qualified candidate, IMO, who has announced for Kecia’s seat. What we need is competition for the seat being vacated by Jim Baskett.
