Check Out My Parents’ Basement Photo Tour & Menu; Opens Tomorrow!
Decatur Metro | August 11, 2015 | 8:48 amMy Parents’ Basement opens in the old James Joyce space tomorrow.
If you’re curious what a comic book store/pub mashup looks like, you may want to check out Urban Daddy’s just-posted photo tour and its list of facts about this new Avondale hangout created by “Brick Store and Leon’s vets” with ” a new bar with a huge beer list and an also-huge patio”.
But ultimately I know you all want to see the menus. So here you go. Here’s the food menu. And here’s a sample draft list. Lots of local brews.
So that’s it! Well, except for one thing I just came across…..(whistling)….(looks around)….
OK, so if you’re still actually reading and you love good beer, here’s a little gift. After the jump you can have a look at the actual draft menu for opening day, via Reddit. Some real rarities on there…
Heres a few of drafts that we will be pouring on wednesday. Westbrook Mexican Cake, Creature Comforts Tritonia, Green Flash Natura Morta Plum, Tiliquin Gueuze, Stone Woot Stout ver. 3, Second Self BA Red Hop Rye, New Belgium Erics Ale, Southbound Transilience, Bruery Sour in the Rye, Terrapin Maggies Blackberry, Sweetwater Pit and the Pendulum…Guinness. There are a bunch more offerings that we will have on draft on opening day, just come by and see us.

Does anyone know offhand if smoking will be allowed on that sweet patio? Could ruin it for my asthmatic significant other. Not sure how Avondale’s ordinances differ from Decatur; but I noticed an ashtray in one of the photos.
Really hope this place is a success. It’s a neat spot. I miss James Joyce, but this looks very interesting.
Couldn’t agree more. James Joyce was terrific, but this looks like another kind of terrific. Wife and I are so happy about living in Decatur – would rather live here than anywhere else in the city.
The new owners have said there will be NO smoking on the patio and the venue will be family friendly.
That is one impressive tap list for opening day!
agreed. mexican cake? damn, i need to head over there.
