Check Out Readers’ Post-Evening Storm Photos

    Decatur Metro | June 18, 2015 | 9:06 pm

Readers sent in a bunch of photos from the “aftermath” of the thunderstorm cell that came barreling through Decatur this evening.

Daren reported that the Brick Store lost power for at least a half an hour. I’m currently without cable and internet. How are you all holding up?

In Rick’s picture, did that uprooted tree miss all structures? I can’t tell. Hope so. I used to like storms when I lived in other places. But here in Atlanta, I’m in terror of falling trees.

It just barely grazed the side of the title business causing what looks like minimal damage. It was very lucky that the tree fell across a parking area between the home on one side and the business on the other. I heard there was a car underneath the tree, though it must have been pulled out during the night as it wasn’t there this morning and the area had been largely cleared.

Power was returned to my E. Ponce home around 11 p.m.

I watched them clear a path to the car. Owner got in and drove it away to light applause. That was around 10 pm.

Wow! That’s more good news where things could have gone bad.

I was driving the stretch of Commerce between Church and Ponce when the worst of it hit. I have never driven in rain where I could not see *anything* but that is what it was like yesterday. Stuff was blowing around and hitting my car. When I got to the light at Commerce and Ponce it was out, along with all the lights on Ponce until St. Thomas More.
