Thanks Nick. Normally the birds at the feeder don’t let you get close but this time, a young cardinal dared me to walk right up and just stared as if to say, “You lookin’ at me?”
Mary and I recently made the decision to sod the “old dirt yard” and have enjoyed sitting on the patio, seeing green this and that almost everywhere, and the birds feeding at several locations. A week after the instilation, we were enjoying the show and she asked, “Why did we wait so long?”
Decatur and birds. You don’t hear much about our town and bird watching but as I recall, there use to be a sign at the Scott/Ponce gateway that stated, “Welcome to the City of Decatur, A Bird Sanctuary”. Growing up, I always wondered about that sign thinking “Why would anyone care about creating a sanctuary for birds”. Now in my older and wiser (?) years, I now understand that birds, like summer rain, are one of God’s sweet mercies.

I love bird watching! I believe that’s a house finch. They’re seed eaters and he is probably delighted to find your well stocked feeder!

Agree on your house finch assessment!
Today’s yard birds: blue grey gnatcatcher and palm warbler.
My son went up to Kennesaw Mt this morning and saw many amazing migrants!
