Good news for Decatur to Atlanta commuters who can’t get enough of Cakes & Ale’s bread and pastry offerings.
Their new central bakery in Inman Park, “Proof Bakeshop” will open next month in the old Dough Bakery spot at the corner of DeKalb Ave and Hurt Street in Inman Park. Details courtesy of Eater…
When it launches in April, the bakery/coffeeshop will serve as the central kitchen for baked items served at Cakes & Ale and the team’s forthcoming Bread & Butterfly.
…Proof will offer a variety of baked goods, including country sourdough, honey oat bread, English muffins, hand pies, Danishes, French macarons, croissants, and seasonal muffins, and a selection of sandwiches will be available as well. Located in the former Dough Bakery space at 100 Hurt Street NE, Proof will open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

I hope that this will be a bakery, not another sandwich shop.
It is a bakery. It’s their central kitchen for Cakes & Ale and the cafe in Decatur.
Yum, and near the bike route into town…just wish Burton’s Grill could be resurrected. Deacon Burton made the best walnut cake ever.
Is it just me or does that hand and arm kneading the dough always look phallic when you drive by? I promise I’m not a regular perv!
An irregular perv. Got it! 🙂
Lol – I guess so!
I always thought that too. Call me what you wish.
Now I’m always going to see it that way. This is the visual equivalent of an ear worm….
So it WASN’T just the way my husband and I saw it! Ha! (Yes.)
It’s not the old Dough Bakery spot. It’s the old Son’s Place spot.
