Decatur Police Alert: Police Arrest Robbery Suspects

From Decatur PD’s Sgt. Jennifer Ross…

On 09-22-14 at 12:56 am, Decatur Police responded to the corner of East Trinity Place and North McDonough Street in reference to a robbery.  The complainant/victim stated he was walking in the area and two males approached him from behind.  One of the males punched him and told him to give up his book bag.  The second male then began to hit victim and demand the backpack. The victim took off his backpack and gave it to the suspects who fled eastbound towards Church Street.  The victim then realized his phone, wallet and cash had also been taken during the robbery.

A witness came forward and advised an officer he had seen two males running into the Decatur MARTA station’s Church Street entrance.  City of Decatur officers as well as MARTA police checked the MARTA train station.  Officers located two males matching the description on the train platform.  They were in possession of a backpack matching the description of the backpack taken from the victim.  The victim positively identified the two males as the suspects who robbed him.  The victim sustained scrapes and bruises.

    1. You might be more worried about the high probability of aggressive hushers inside than the low probability of thieves outside.

      1. As one of the aggressive hushers, I sez yeah, so? I’m concerned, though. They’ve taken down the admonition banner on the stage, the one with the dreadful hyphenation.

        Always bugged me.

  1. This sucks and is senseless. I’m pondering getting a concealed weapons permit for this very reason. Little gang bangers gone wild.

  2. Trinity and N. McDonough!!
Isn’t there a police station there? I see lots of police cars parked there at least.

Glad they were caught though – one upside to waiting 15 minutes between marta trains.

  3. Great work by DPD!
Weekend trains are on 20 minute interval and that is best case scenario since a lot of track maintenance happens on weekends and affects the schedule.
According to Decaturish the perps are from Brunswick, GA, so maybe that’s their excuse for a dumb getaway plan.
