We have this stray dog in our backyard in Midway Woods. Found him this morning at the school where I teach- kids said he’d been wandering for days. Anyway we might post this with my info in case anyone is interested in taking him in?

  1. DM, I need you to do that thing where you can block Mrs. J_T from seeing this thread. We are full up with dogs at the moment but she will ignore that logic as soon as she sees that face.

        1. He does….but Mama Nubbs and Papa Nubbs are not responsible enough to care for a puppy. We know our limits. We also do not have a fenced yard – I know that could be fixed easily, but I do not have the energy for a dog these days….unless said dog is a basset hound, and then I will likely need to find a new Papa Nubbs as I am not allowed to bring one home.

  2. My husband rescued this dog from the high school where we both teach. He’s currently in our backyard. He puppy is CUTE. He’s wiggly, squirmy, and sweet.

According to our students, he’s been hanging around the school for several days. I think he may have spent the weekend inside the school gym. We really can’t keep him because we already have a neurotic rescue dog and a two year old.

I called Village Vets and they suggested contacting Southern Animal Rescue and Animal Action Rescue. I emailed them both and am waiting for a reply. I called Atlanta Humane Society and got a recording that said they absolutely do not take strays. Dearborn Animal Hospital also said they do not have room.

Are there any other suggestions? 🙂

    1. You can try Second Life or PAWS. That really is a cute face! I can’t imagine it would be hard to place.

    2. Angels Among Us – based in Alpharetta but works all over (has adoption days at the Decatur Petco regularly).

If I dont loose my battle of wills with myself and try to adopt him first!

  3. Breaking my heart – such a beautiful face. Wish there was room at our inn, but have shared with some friends involved in dog rescue in the area.

  4. Sheesh–that face is KILLING me! I could nuzzle that muzzle for hours…I don’t think our cats would forgive us if we brought home another dog, even though they love their canine brother. *sigh*

  5. Any news about the puppy? My husband and I have spent a sleepless night thinking about him.

  6. Hey guys,
Sorry for just now responding. My husband and I are teachers and in the middle of testing hell. The puppy is still with us and we’re going to take him to the Atlanta Humane Society this Thursday. If you’re interested in taking him before then, my email address is tracyvax at gmail dot com.

Ben, I will email you shortly.

He spent a lovely evening with our much bigger hound dog. They played very well together. We have seen no signs of aggression at all. He really is a sweetie.

  7. Thanks to Ben, the little pup has a new home! 🙂 Thanks to Decatur Metro for posting the picture and thanks to all of you guys who expressed interest.

  8. Hooray! He was an awfully tempting little booger. So glad Ben jumped in there. I’m full-up on critters.

    1. Thanks folks! I’m so glad to have him. His name is Sammy. He’s settling in and getting along with his siblings very nicely. He’s had his first round of vetting including shots. All things considered he’s in excellent health. If you see us in Oakhurst village feel free to say hello and meet Sammy!

      1. Awesome! I sometimes stumble over to the wrong side of the tracks so I’ll keep an eye out for y’all when I’m in the ‘Khurst.
