But did She/He say yes? And did they see their car before answering?

This photo, cute as it is, is bringing out all my adolescent anxieties. Do you still have to have dates to proms? Is it ok to come among a group of friends, unpaired? Solo? Can you walk or roll or is a limo required?

And is Dante’s Down The Hatch still the preferred group prom dinner date destination!?

Dante’s just closed a few weeks ago. They are going to build condos on the real estate.

I thought I had read that Dante’s wasn’t closing after all, at least not yet. The apartments went on hold.

… and do parents still host After Prom Breakfasts or are you supposed to be ok with the idea propounded in all teen movies that your kid goes to a hotel room with their date on prom night? (You can guess how I feel about that one.)

Could you hear my high-pitched gasp and sputtered tea?

Sorry about that. Welcome to the social reality your kids will face, regardless of whether they participate.

I couldn’t attend the After Prom Breakfast because I was still throwing up. 😡

Okay so yes it is completely okay to go to prom with a group or solo. I saw one group of couples go to breakfast last year so it’s not that common. Hannah and her date were trying to out-cute each other so he is going to do something soon. Just thought I’d clear that up

I took the picture, because I thought it was adorable! Hope I didn’t embarrass anyone. My DHS graduate daughter didnt have a date to either junior or senior prom, but she went to both.

            March 28, 2013 at 5:21 pm

            And was this Hannah’s car?

            • elizard says:
              March 28, 2013 at 9:20 pm

No it’s her date’s car. They already established that they were going together but they wanted to see which one of them could pick the cutest way to ask the other one out.

Thanks for the answer. Soo, if not breakfast, and assuming they want to prolong the evening, what do they do?

My guess is that is not Hannah’s car but is instead her ex’s.

I’m really glad that you specified Alphaville and not Rod Stewart :-)

Dante’s 1983 and High School. Awful then; even worse to revisit now.

1983 had “Return of the Jedi,” so it wasn’t all bad.

1983 really WAS awful, and the reason can be stated in one word: Ewoks.

        1983?! I could have chaperone’d your prom!

So I’m the girl who did this. One of my closest friends and I decided we would go to prom together this year, but wanted to make things interesting by making it a contest. We were both to ask each other in the most over the top, cheesy, cute way we could think of. This was my part of the competition and he says he’s doing his part tomorrow. Glad it could be enjoyed by others!

When I spotted this on Ponce yesterday, my smile lasted for at least a good three blocks.

cute hannah! take a pic and send it to DM for the way your friend asks you…and have a fun time at prom!

Are you going to change your mind and say no if he doesn’t top this in a sufficiently creative or embarrassing way? I’d at least make him sweat it 😉
