What’s open for coffee/breakfast on New Year’s Day? Dancing Goats? Pastries A Go Go? Cakes and Ale? Java Monkey?

Looks like Revolution Donuts is open.

Oops– forgot. Not in Decatur, but apparently Java Jive is open and having a pajama party! No word on whether their famous gingerbread waffles will be served.

Revolution Doughnuts is in Decatur–not in Downtown, but within city limits in Oakhurst. Dancing Goats was open too.

Oh, I know all too well that Revolution is in Decatur– as my waistline can now attest, it is just blocks from my house! 😉
I meant that Java Jive, with full-on breakfast, was not in Decatur, but open today.

Got it. I think there’s some punctuation choices that would have made it clearer but can’t come up with it right now. Pajama party? Love the idea. Where is Java Jive?

My head hurts trying to think of punctuation on New Year’s Day that would have made it read better; can I just blame it on the iPad?? :-)
JJ is in Midtown, on Ponce just before you get to the old City Hall East, on the right. Before Paris on Ponce. Easy to miss stand-alone building, but worth finding. Funky retro atmosphere, laid back vibe, fab food. Gingerbread waffles w/ lemon curd (only on weekends), & their biscuits are the real deal.

Quite a few “Woulds, Coulds” and a big “Would you be willing to…” in the article on the east line train corridor. Someone from Decatur (hopefully me) is more likely to win a $300 million Powerball drawing than the Ga Legislature or Congress will fund this rail line. But since I believe in miracles (several have occurred in the last two thousand years), if the line was funded, it should run from at least Conyers or beyond to have a chance for success. Why would someone from Decatur, Stone Mountain or Lithonia ride a train when they can walk or drive a short distance to a Marta station.

On another topic, I hope all my DM friends and associates have a safe and prosperous New Year and never forget:
      Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
      Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
      and auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my Decatur friends,
      for auld lang syne,
      we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
      for auld lang syne.

All is quiet on New Year’s Day
A world in white gets underway
I want to be with you
Be with you night and day
Nothing changes on New Year’s Day
        On New Year’s Day

I will be with you again
I will be with you again

Nice. Apologies to all for having some wrong links in the poetry post for today. I’m hoping I’ve fixed them all now!

I look at the picture of Underground Atlanta, and I can’t help but wonder, are the Gum Ball dispensers half empty or half full?
