They are building out a movie set there and at the Solarium. It is a Billy Bob Thornton film.

This is a good use of the parking lot, no? Not as controversial as Dollar General or churches, no? But less permanent than a Trader Joe’s.

        Message from Oakhurst Church:

Set up has begun today on a movie scene being filmed at Oakhurst Church. If you walk past the building and it looks like a 1960’s hardware store, well, that’s because it kind of is for the weekend. It will be set up all weekend with shooting on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, this means that our church sign will be down for the weekend, but it will be put up again soon. So enjoy a bit of “classic” America this 4th of July Weekend and you might even see a movie star or two walking around our parking lot.

Are there property tax benefits to housing a church on a rental property?

That’s weird. I was just pondering that today.

Absolutely not. If the church owned the building then there would be, but since the building is owned by a non-church individual, the owner cannot get the tax benefits.
