    Kirkwood Spring Fling & Tour of Homes – May 15th & 16th

    Emily writes in with info on the upcoming Kirkwood Spring Fling & Tour of Homes…

    The historic Atlanta neighborhood of Kirkwood will host their annual Spring Fling Festival and Tour of Homes the second weekend in May.

    On Saturday, May 15th the weekend’s activities will begin with the introduction of a new event; a 5K run starting at 9:00 a.m. in downtown Kirkwood. The run will wind through the beautiful historic neighborhood of Kirkwood and will finish near the site of the Spring Fling festival which will begin at 10am in Bessie Branham Park.

    The festival will feature an artist market composed of over 90 high quality artisans and crafters showcasing handmade products. A special section will be devoted to green living and reducing carbon footprints through eco-friendly items made from recycled products. Children will be delighted with special activities designed just for the kids. Hands-on crafts, moon bounce, art show, games and activities will be introduced throughout the day in the special area designed just for kid friendly fun.

    No festival would be complete without good music, food and drinks, and Kirkwood Spring Fling is no exception. Festival sponsor, Atlanta Brewing Company will have a selection of local Red Brick brews to sample and tasty treats from a variety of restaurants to will be available to keep your belly full. Bring a blanket and relax to the tunes of seven different bands, encompassing a variety of music that everyone is sure to love.

    The festival also kicks-off Kirkwood’s amazing two-day Tour of Homes.

    See the diverse selection of building styles from classic Victorian cottages to Craftsman bungalows to modern lofts and everything in between. Meet some of the home-owners on your tour and learn about the diverse histories of many of the properties and creative techniques used in construction and renovation.
