Rob Zombie's "Halloweeen 2" Filming in Decatur Next Week
Decatur Metro | March 12, 2009 | 1:32 pmCheryl over at The Decatur Minute announces that Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 (aka “H2”) will be filming in Decatur next week! However, she doesn’t provide specific locations, so we might need to figure that out on our own.
The movie stars Malcolm McDowell, Brad Dourif, Scout Taylor-Compton, and Danielle Harris. However to me, Howard Hesseman has the best character name of the bunch. “Uncle Meat”
Looks like 2009 is shaping up to be “The Year of the Zombie” for Decatur!
In other “Decatur is becoming Hollywood’s choice locale for B-Movies & TV pilots” news, Cheryl also reports that ABC is planning on filming a pilot at the Old Courthouse next week!
When did we become so darn popular? Anyone want to go in on a double-decker tour bus with me?
The ABC pilot is also being filmed at Agnes Scott in part. Agnes Scott looks to movie filming as a great source of revenue, so perhaps the City as jumped on the bandwagon!
I remember a long time ago when Driving Miss Daisy was being filmed up the street from where Ted’s Montana is. I got to hold a camera for a producer as I was running trying to catch Dan Ackroyd for an autograph…
The filming for H2 will be at the Wordsmith’s location. The city has been a pretty popular site for filming for a few years. Who can blame the location scouts for wanting to film in our wonderful and beautiful city. Some of you may recall that “Remember the Titans” filmed some scenes here many years ago.
Good for Decatur!
Ironically, our town has no theatre in which we can actually VIEW any of the movies filmed here. I bet one of those grill/theatre combo spots would do great biz here, like the one at Northlake.
This is great! The last time I was near the filming of a major motion picture was when I stumbled across the set of “Look Who’s Talking Too!”
There were hushed whispers from the passers-by that they were looking for extras so I rushed home to change into something appropriate and rushed back to where they were filming.
I didn’t get in and felt a little silly standing around in public wearing nothing more than a large bonnet and adult diaper. I typically limit wearing that outfit just for lounging around the house.
Joey- that is something I would love to see!
R Zombie actually bought a copy of the David Hajdu book the night of the event when they were scouting. Almost asked him for an autograph.
I am sitting in my office right across from the old courthouse and movie supply trucks are coming in. If I have to work on a Sunday at least I have something fun to watch.
If you’re interested in being an extra, please see these details:
The movie “Halloween 2” starring Malcolm McDowell is seeking Paid Extras for Tuesday March 17. It will be an early call time probably around 6 or 7am in Decatur. NO KIDS. 18 and up please.
It’s people waiting in line for a book signing about a serial killer. A few people will be asked to bring Halloween costumes.
Compensation: $7.15 an hour

Noticed three semi trucks full of movie equipment at the back of the square and a trailer/tent set up in between Dairy Queen and Twains apparently for extras, wardrobe, makeup, etc. Gotta be good for Decatur’s economy! So where are they filming?
Does anyone else find it somewhat distasteful that a zombie movie is being filmed in a real cemetery? I would be very upset to see one of my loved one’s grave used as a prop for a horror film.
Maybe somewhat but probably no more so than the thought of the old cemetery crumbling apart because we don’t have the funds to preserve it properly.
Let’s hope some of those location fees can go here: http://www.decaturpreservationalliance.org/projects.php
Sweet. Thanks, Steve.
