Heath Ledger Death Speculation is Sickening

Listening to news speculation of Heath Ledger’s death, based purely on his recent movie roles and public romance, is as awkwardly creepy as having your emotionally distant co-workers speculate that you offed yourself because “you always brought egg salad for lunch” or because “you were always really obsessed with page margins”.

I guess that’s the curse. When you’re famous, everyone thinks they know you, but nobody really does. And when real life finally emerges into the headlines, the resulting media rationalization is often uncomfortably distant and plastic.

What a tragedy…and then we’re on to the next story.
