Does anyone have an idea of how far down Church St this stormwater project is going or when it’ll be done?
Also, as an aside, I recall living on 10th St in midtown back in the early ’00s, that it seemed there was always someone digging up the street to lay fiber, do sewage or utility work. Does any municipality ever consider just digging up ALL the streets just once, putting in stormwater, utility conduits, etc. and then leasing space to whoever wants to run cable/fiber/whatever through it? While I’m whining, it’d be nice if cities actually required that the street be put back in at least as good of a condition when done as when it started vs. the uneven/patchy/lumpy/bumpy mess we usually get at the end.
The project will end soon. It only goes as far as the church. It should be complete (after more than a year) in a few weeks.
It’s not new construction, it’s replacement of decades-old storm drains.
The poor contractors have had to deal with some pretty awful weather in the past year (for a stormwater project anyway). Decatur renovated the Pool back in the drought I think, so, Murphy’s Law, yes? They poured a catch basin at Maple and Church back in the autumn, only to have to redo it recently after someone ran over it. So I imagine those guys are getting pretty tired of it too.
