Pastry Chef Aaron Russell Leaves The Chocolate Bar

August 4, 2009 | 1:17 pm

Omnivore Atlanta is reporting that celebrated Atlanta pastry chef Aaron Russell has left The Chocolate Bar.  How celebrated?  Russell was up for a James Beard award last year.

In the post, Russell explains why he left and in the process has a few not-so-nice words about the new management that took over after Karen Britain left earlier this year.

Why did the original owner, Karen Britain, leave? Too bad. It was a little too chi-chi for family outings but I imagined that one day I would have the freedom and sophistication to go linger over wine and chocolate.

Karen sold the business to the new owner last year. The plan was for her to remain as host, but apparently that didn’t happen in the end. Now it’s The ORIGINAL Chocolate Bar with multiple locations.

Went there once, the service was horrific.

Was there about a month ago to close out the night after Leon’s.
Service was not great for our group either.
It’s a tough bill too after lingering over beers and food at Leon’s to see a bigger tab for a few drinks and chocolate. ‘Twas tasty though.
