Tiki Bar, S.O.S., Replaces Paper Plane; Opens Today

You may have seen the signs. Lush planters and tiki torches. Or perhaps you were invited to one of the friends and family softish opening parties.
But there have been few hints online of any mention of new creation from the owners of Victory Brands that would replace Paper Plane, until yesterday, when the AJC’s Bob Townsend broke the silence, stating that S.O.S. will open to the public today at 6pm. Here are a few other details…
The cocktail menu ranges from such tiki standards as the Zombie and the Mai Tai to the likes of the boozy Reverend’s Fancy, with pineapple rum, reposado tequila and amaro, garnished with a swath of sweetened coconut pasted to the side of a rocks glass. There’s also a daily happy hour punch.
On the food menu, look for fried coconut shrimp with spicy pineapple, Tikiyaki sliders on Hawaiian rolls, jerk chicken wings, and Polynesian-style spare ribs.
Here’s a pic of the menu (and a Mai Tai!) that the city’s Catherine Lee posted on Instagram the other day…
Nothing like a delicious mai tai on a rainy evening #cheers #formerlypaperplane #decaturga
