Don’t miss “Decatur Idol”, Friday night at 7 pm in the DHS Performing Arts Center.  10 talented Decatur High and Renfroe students will perform a wide variety of musical genres and members of the audience will decide the winner with their votes.

This year’s esteemed judges include Robert Schneider, lead singer of The Apples In Stereo and co-founder of Elephant 6; singer / songwriters Jared and Amber Humphries; and journalist Bo Emerson of the AJC.

This event is a fundraiser for the DHS Band.  So come out to support the student performers and the band.  Tickets are $5 students, $10 adults and children under age 6 get in free.

See Decatur’s brightest and freshest stars at Decatur Idol! Plus, it’s a fund-raiser for your DHS band!

The competition will be held this Friday, May 15, at the DHS Performing Arts Center, and will feature 11 performances by Renfroe and Decatur High students. Tickets are $5 students, $10 adults, and children under age 6 get in free if they are accompanying their parents. Event begins at 7 p.m. and aims to wrap in time for the Lantern Parade at 9 p.m.  Listen to in-the-know musicians judge the acts, then vote for your favorite!

Decatur Idol will be held Thursday May 9th at 7 PM in the DHS Auditorium.  Auditions are Thursday May 2 at 4 PM in the DHS Band Room.  Kids will be competing for the coveted title, as well as prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  Admission is $5 for students and $10 for adults.

1. The DHS Band is kicking off our “Hope for Harmony” fundraising campaign called “Drum Dreams and Uniform Seams”, with a free party this Friday, April 20, 7 PM, at 1976 Azalea Circle, Decatur, GA 30033. The event is catered by Zest Atlanta, and is following up on last year’s successful “Tuba Quest”. We’re raising funds for new instruments (including baritones, bass clarinets, and percussion equipment), uniforms, instruction, and scholarships which will support the musical education of all our youth. Everyone is welcome, and we hope you will come with a willingness to donate or make a pledge to support the band.
