Any word on when Big Tex will re-open?
I actually asked Commissioner Drake about this. They are apparently still waiting on some approvals from the county.
Wow, it’s crickets here today.
We’re all talking about downtown! 😉
Has anyone encountered pickpocket trios or similar groups near the square? On Tuesday, in the stretch between Jenni’s ice cream and Cakes and Ale, some out-of-town friends were convinced that they spotted a group trying to create a (pedestrian) traffic jam to enable an “accidental” bump and thus pick their pockets.
Where are some good locations to watch Decatur fireworks from? We need to be able to drive there and park. Need a view with no tall buildings in the way, where we won’t get booted. We are more than happy to eat in a local restaurant and then hang out in lawn chairs near the car to watch the show. Suggestions?
Christian Church or Post Office on W Ponce. Anywhere along W College from McDonough west.
Where can I buy fresh shelled peas? YDFM DeKalb Farmers Market no longer carries them for some reason. Ideas? Does anyone know if Sprouts, Fresh Mart, Earth Fare or Whole Foods might have them? Thanks.
I bought a bag of fresh shelled butter beans from a vendor at the Wednesday Decatur farmer’s market. She also had some field peas.
Might want to check again. I went to YDFM yesterday and again this morning (Sunday), and they had shelled peas both days. Several varieties.
I have bought fresh limas at whole foods.
Good morning Decatur World!
“Old” Decatur High School News: Prior to the existing building, Decatur High students and teachers met in what was called the South building, Girls High and originally Central Grammar School, built in 1907. This structure was torn down in 1963 and replaced with the current building. The cornerstone of Central Grammar will be installed on the plaza in front of the DHS gym today (I was told around 9:30 this morning but could be later). This is a construction zone so be careful.
