CSD Hosting Community Meeting To Talk About Elementary School Facility Planning Next Monday

    Decatur Metro | March 6, 2017 | 12:48 pm

As Decatur’s school enrollment continues to creep (leap? hurdle?) upwards, City Schools of Decatur is planning for a future when elementary and 4/5 Academy populations exceed the current schools’ classroom capacities.

As reported back in December, CSD is considering two options: one that switches the lower elementary schools to K-2 and creates three 3-5 schools (FAVE, Oakhurst and Talley Street).  The other maintains the current K-3/ 4-5 breakdown and adds a second 4/5 in the form of Talley Street.

Want to know more?  CSD is holding a Planning Meeting next Monday, March 13th to let the community get in on the fun.  From CSD…

Join the Conversation at the Elementary Facility Planning Community Meeting

City Schools of Decatur and the Elementary Facility Planning Engagement Steering Committee are hosting a community meeting regarding the construction and grade configuration of our elementary schools. This engagement session will be an opportunity for community members to participate in a facilitated discussion to provide valuable feedback to the Board of Education. In addition, the committee will post an online survey to solicit further input after the meeting.

More info in the brochure above too, obviously.

The limited parking warning is kind of emblematic of the situation!
