Sprouts Farmer’s Market Now Open at Decatur Crossing
Decatur Metro | March 3, 2017 | 4:51 pmDecaturites now have a new grocery store option close by!
The AJC is reporting that Sprouts Farmer’s Market is now open just outside Decatur in the Decatur Crossing development.
How is it?
And what are its hours?
My impression is that they carry the top 15% most profitable items Kroger carries. And 7am to 10 pm.
Just visited it and I was fairly impressed. It’s a lot more conveniently located for COD residents than the Clifton Road Earthfare or the Briarcliff Whole Foods. Like Earthfare, it’s less fancy than Whole Foods, no lattes or fancy bakery. But it’s got a much, much wider food selection than something like Rainbow Grocery. Staff were real friendly and helpful.
It’s a bit odd driving to it through the middle of the new apartment development. Kind of has the feel of an old-fashioned “World of the Future” miniature city diorama. Not real warm and friendly. But it’s not like the car dealerships that preceded it were any better.
There were no car dealerships just a church and houses.
Sorry, I’m so disoriented now by all the building that I can’t remember what was where. Yes, the car dealerships were to the east. And the church congregation disbanded. Sad to ever lose churches or schools and all the good memories they housed.
Do they have a hot bar or salad bar or any place where you can get ready-to-eat foods, like curried chicken salad, potato salad, etc.?
Um, I wasn’t looking for that so I have to say probably yes, but nothing as impressive as what Whole Foods has, and maybe even less than Earthfare. They did have an impressive number of huge bins with things like nuts. I wasn’t looking for those but I couldn’t miss them. I did frequent the dairy area and I really like the yogurt selection. It happens to have a lot of the brands that I like all in one place so now I don’t have to hit Publix AND Kroger AND Earthfare to get my favorites.
Haven’t been to this one, but have been to several OTP. No hot bar like Whole Foods, but they do have 3 rotating soups (usually chicken noodle then 2 others determined by daily schedule), sushi, whole roasted chickens (sometimes warm sides to go with it), sandwiches, potato/egg/tuna/chicken salads.
Can’t vouch for the roasted chicken and sides, but we’be been happy with the soups and my dad who we’be discovered eats pretty much a mayonnaise based diet (!) loves the egg/chicken/potato salads to the extent he requests purchase of and delivery by us since he’s easily an hour from the nearest sprouts.
