For those who’ve yet to find a Christmas tree, here’s props for the Tree Elves, the King of Pops side gig. Good looking, fairly priced trees delivered to your house and then picked up for recycling after the holidays. Plus, the delivery crew shows up dressed as elves. Seriously.
We assumed last Saturday that, two weeks out, there’d still be plenty of trees at First Christian. Whoops.
So glad to hear it! They are delivering to us tomorrow and we can’t wait!
We’ve used them the last two years — prettiest trees we’ve ever had.

Our Tree Elves tree is gorgeous.

“James Patterson announced the names of 149 independent booksellers receiving grants totaling $250,000 as part of his Holiday Bookstore Bonus Program. ”
Krista Gilliam, Little Shop of Stories
Rob Herrema, Little Shop of Stories
Terra Elan McVoy, Little Shop of Stories
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
To all of you who submitted a recommendation for a bonus to James Patterson on behalf of a Little Shop worker, thanks so much!!! This was a very, very nice surprise for Krista, Rob, and Terra.
And if James is reading this blog — Thanks again!
My 9-year-old son’s quality of life would plummet, should he not get his weekly Dogg. Avec ketchup, bien sûr. This is a shout out to James and the good folks at Doggy Dogg, who have supported the Decatur outdoor farmer’s market in the past, and who have now taken over the unique little digs across from Kimball House/old depot. That neighborhood is currently excavated for pyramid construction with catacombs, and it’s putting a real strain on business—few passersby, not counting the huge cranes. If you haven’t been there, I recommend you check out the good music, Hawaian grass umbrellas, and authentic dogs and brats of Doggy Dogg. “In Dogg We Trust” (if Trump puts it on the dollar bill, you heard it here first!)
Doggy Dog rocks–I’ll be going by there this week, then! Thanks for the heads up…
They also have really great veggie dogs!
How Bout getting the city to tell the storm water folks to pickup the pace. Sure would hate to see Doggy Dog fall victim to the construction.
Or better yet, let’s follow Pedro’s suggestion and get the DM community to help rally for this business. I’m not a fan of hot dogs, but my family will be by for a couple of meals.
Let’s go folks, go get your dog on!
Unfortunately Decatur’s construction “progress” has a way of doing that to small businesses such as Doggy Dogg.
You could almost say it’s going to…….
Nevermind
Is the “red light” camera at Scott and Clairemont still functional? I feel like I have been through on a yellow or two, and I have gotten away with it… 🙂
Hasn’t been on for quite some time.
Have been to the new Mellow Mushroom twice now, Two thumbs up!!! Glad to have them back.
Where can I find Snowflake Ritz crackers? No luck at Publix or Kroger or Target. Saw them on Amazon, but I need one box, not a case of 12. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Walmart has them
Thanks. Got some there this evening. Many thanks.
Looking for places to buy oysters for Christmas Eve. We usually go to Whole Foods but wanted to see if there are better options. Thanks!
Try Your DeKalb Farmers Market.
Perhaps Southern Seafood on Lawrenceville Highway near McLendon.
Did Southern Seafood re-open? They were closed all summer.
Southern Seafood appears to be gone. The fixtures were on the sidewalk last week, and this week it looks like someone is renovating and painting the space.
It looks like they are installing new seafood cases in there today, when I drove by.
I just saw on Facebook where someone said they were reopening.
I’m thinking about getting Dekalb co to install an irrigation water meter. It’s $1100 up front. Has anyone else done this- are you glad you did? Thx
How about Intown Ace’s huge purple….rooster !?!
So everyone had been recommending “Rectify.” I’m halfway through the second episode and I’m having trouble staying awake.
Does it get better?
Probably not, if you don’t like it so far. The characters all achieve greater depth, but it stays slow.
Thanks. I gave it three episodes and decided to bail.
I don’t disagree with sansho1, but I would push on. I think you will be rewarded.
About half of the people who I’ve recommended it to and who then watched it thought it was too slow and talky. The other half loved it. Clearly it’s not for everyone, as it always had very low audience numbers while being critically lauded (similar to Mad Men, but even smaller numbers without the media hype of Mad Men).
This seems to happen to me a lot. I failed to connect with “Breaking Bad” (gave it a season and a half) and “Seinfeld” (gave it two seasons), despite the critical and viewer accolades both received.
Wow. You’re not alone on Rectify, but you’re pretty close to alone on those two shows :). I guess it’s possible you stopped too soon on both. Breaking Bad’s weakest season is its first (one of the few series that got better and better all the way till the end), and Seifeld’s peak seasons are 3 and 4. But maybe not. There’s a lot of stuff people loved I never cared for, mostly sci-fi/fantasy stuff (Lost, The X Files, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer come to mind). And I think Star Wars is the most over-rated movie of all time.
A recent show for me that everyone I know loved, and I just didn’t dig, is Justified.
