The issue is not about money. It is about GDOT ignoring pedestrian safety.

GreenTea, I had the exact same response. The real problem here is the GDOT, which operates according to old fashioned, car-focused policies. They need to get with the times! Throughout Decatur, it’s the GDOT that’s dragging feet on safety improvements for pedestrians.

The lady holding her coffee while walking and complaining about the traffic makes it so convincing.

I wonder if this problems happens in other parts of Dekalb County or the South side of Dekalb County. There should be a study done to see if it is only localized or happens in other parts of Dekalb County. To see if it should be reviewed to improve all the sidewalks in Dekalb. Lets get GDOT take money from the North part of Dekalb to fix the South part of Dekalb so that all sidewalks are safe for everyone.

I agree. I travel Scott daily. I have been hit in the rear where drivers are texting, changing lanes with signal at high rates of speed. To start. City of Decatur, Set up speeding stings at two areas of Scot and wear out the ticket book.

I expect one or more cars to run the the red light on Scott at Superior. Three in the same direction is not that unusual.

Is Commuter Dude related to Superintendent Dude? Just asking…

I’ve mentioned this before but I’d love for something to be done with the long line of traffic turning left into Westchester Elementary, then Westchester Drive, then Clairemont in the the morning as you head north on Scott. While polite people leave space in the line for folks to exit Westchester Drive, entitled folks who are going to Purgatory for a very long time speed to the head of the line and cut in by using that space. I’m not sure what would fix that but I’d be content with a little police ticket justice. My very, very dirty looks are not working.

Serious question: is there any law prohibiting installing straw bales along the curb like at Le Mans?
