Mornin’!
Now that the apartments on Commerce are complete, when will we get our lane on Commerce back? Oh, and does anyone know how much rent the City got for letting the contractor use the lane for so long?
I believe the quid pro quo was the developer paying towards biking facilities along that stretch (something that doesn’t fall under their streetscape requirements) — originally intended to be a striped lane but now, based on input from the cycling community, being redesigned as a separated cycle track.
It has made the evening commute quite terrible, hasn’t it?
Does anyone else think they resemble a Rio squatter city with their haphazard utilization of corrugated tin as a siding material?
The Alexan? I was wondering about the metal as well. Maybe it is designed to rust?
Patina!
you say pateena and i say patihnah
you say vageena . . .
The quality of the installation is comparable. Take a walk around and look closely.
Agree on the poor attention to finishing detail on Alexan exterior. But maybe they’re just following the Place on Ponce lead where screw or nail heads have been popping out from that Hardieboard since before it was complete.
The last couple weeks were pretty exciting for little Decatur, what with the killer bees movie and scandalous school firing. It’s been fun.
What are we going to do for next week’s brouhaha? Maybe something about race or religion? Toy park/junkyard? Kids in restaurants? Sprouts vs Trader Joe’s debate? Heaven forbid, politics?
Or bikes vs cars, gun control, kids/no kids, backing into parking spaces, Phyllis Edwards’ unique communication skills, lines at the Brickstore, CSD tuition kids, vegan?
I heard parking downtown will now be enforced under Sharia Law.
Sharia for parking. Hammurabi’s code for tree removal. Law of the club and fang for schools. Law of the Pack for scouts. Law of conservation of energy for Sunday afternoons (no, physicists, no corrections – it just sounds good.) Law and Order SVU for late night reruns.
Close. It’s the Whole Foods rumor again. Back to rear it’s heirloom tomato-shaped head.
DM, are you sleepy this morning?
it’s?????
Ha, agh…old habits!
Every speed limit ever established it way too high.
I hear Trump has a large endowment he willing to share.
Dr. Dude’s managerial style! But apparently we’ll all be fired for discussing that, so on second thought….
I am dreading the traffic nightmare the Commerce street Apartments are going to cause in the future. It takes me
now almost 40mins to leave Decatur City limits. And I don’t even want to start talking about that loooong railroad light at S.McDonough. …. Going to my happy place, ohmmmmm.
That sounds impossible, though I’m not doubting you. What’s your route?
Why would you want to leave Decatur?
New Decatur Sushi Bar and Izakaya opening soon! Can’t wait!

I peeked in the window last week and it looked faaaar from ready. Like months and months. The pics sure look intriguing, though. Looks like a winner!
Update re: Highland Bakery, anyone? A tiny bit of sheetrock is up. From searching:
UPDATED: Highland Bakery Opening Decatur Location at 315 West Ponce
Decatur Metro | March 31, 2015
Really don’t know who to call — roofer, carpenter, HVAC… Who installs range hood / hood vents?
Any suggestions, please?
Also, have had some serious disappointments with Home Depot Midtown, installation subs in particular. Anybody have any similar concerns and resolutions??
