Saw this and thought some might find it interesting: a comparison of Atlanta’s only A++ rated mall, Lenox, with C-rated Northlake Mall. If Northlake is a C, what is North DeKalb, an F?

N. Dekalb has been a D or F for years. maybe Costco can save it but unless they start getting some A list tenants in there I doubt it. Northlake is headed down the same road. years ago when I worked for Wolf Camera at Northlake it was impossible to get in there if you were an independent retailer. why? because as an independent retailer you have no corporate office to answer to therefore your signs and fixtures can look cheap. nowadays malls like Northlake will take those smaller retailers because they need to fill the space. it’s better than empty storefronts but unfortunately it cheapens the mall.
Re craft brewery openings, will there be any more changes to the laws hindering them this legislative session?
Hope so. Breweries are still planning to open, even more than what is listed with Atlanta Magazine, but it would make it easier for them if they are given some flexibility in how they sell.
The recent over-reach by DOR (enabled by the distributors) may be a blessing in disguise, unless the talk from Ralston is all bluster. It is an election year but I’m hoping the conservatives now see that alcohol isn’t (or shouldn’t be) such a hot-button issue. Of course, it’s still about the money…
I only count 2 women mayors – Elizabeth Wilson and Patti. Who was the third?
Ann Crichton or something like that in the 1970s. I only know that because of an article elsewhere, maybe Decaturish or AJC.
Thanks, AHID. Before my time.

* Fuqua Phase III community meeting TONIGHT! 7pm at North Decatur United Methodist Church (corner of Church St / N. Decatur Rd by DeKalb Medical).

Hoping for a good turnout of Church St area neighbors! With all the redevelopment occurring at both ends of Church St, it’s key that the adjacent neighborhoods and HOAs take an active interest in what’s going on in order to be able to weigh in on what gets built and to try to minimize the traffic impact. (Not a knock on Fuqua– very pleased with Phase I and II plans. Looking forward to seeing concept for Phase III! :0)
Re: North Dekalb…The recent investors still have it that they will be converting it to an open air concept. Avenues of DeKalb, maybe. (ha.)
