Part of Superior Avenue Will Be Closed For 3 Weeks Starting Today

superior pipeline

Drove by this construction the other day.  Looks like quite the muddy undertaking!  From The Decatur Minute…

A temporary road closure to facilitate Sanitary Sewer System improvements on Superior Avenue is expected to begin on Monday, November 30th and weather permitting, will last approximately three (3) weeks.

Be advised that Superior Avenue between Scott Boulevard and Willow Lane will be closed to thru traffic. Access will also be limited to local traffic from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The County is alerting residents that detours will be in effect, and heavy equipment and construction noise may be noticeable. However, County crews will work diligently to minimize the duration of the construction period and road closure. Patience is appreciated while the improvements are made.

Please call the Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) information line at 1-800-986-1108 with any questions or concerns.

You may recall that this project is to replace a 14″ waterline that runs along the street.  Learn more about it HERE!

After 12 Years, Bhojanic Has Closed Its Decatur Location

bhojanic

From the Bhojanic Facebook page…

Dear Loyal Bhojanic Customers,

After 12 years, it is both with a heavy heart but also with excitement that we are announcing the closing of our Decatur location on November 30, 2015. Unfortunately, our lease at this location has come to an end and we could not come to terms on a lease extension. We are glad to let everyone know that our entire staff has the opportunity to continue working with us at either our Buckhead location or Catering kitchen. At the same time, we are excited to say that we will not be gone from the area long. Please be on the lookout for an announcement regarding our new concept that will be opening in the area the 1st quarter of 2016.

Additionally, Bhojanic Catering is also expanding into a larger facility. Earlier this year we purchased a warehouse and are in the permitting processes for converting it to a commissary kitchen to facilitate our continued growth in catering and foodservice.

In the meantime, please visit our restaurant Bhojanic Buckhead at 3400 Around Lenox Road (next to Crate and Barrel) and for all of your catering and Food Truck needs, please email [email protected] or calling 404-702-8301.

Be Alert: Emory Students Robbed At Gun Point in Separate Incidents This Week

Screen Shot 2015-11-25 at 9.39.47 PM

Be careful out there everyone.  We’ve received details from both Emory and Decatur Police.  First from Emory…

Emory has received reports from the DeKalb County and Decatur Police Departments of pedestrian robberies that occurred in area neighborhoods in the late evening hours on 11-23-15 and 11-24-15.

In both incidents, a female Emory student was walking alone when approached by an occupant from a nearby stopped vehicle.  A male exited the vehicle, pointed a shotgun or rifle at the victim, demanded personal items (cell phone, purse), and then fled the area.  Neither victim was injured.  What follows are details about the reported robberies:

1)     On 11-23-15 at approximately 9:00 pm, a pedestrian robbery was reported to have occurred inside the complex, located on Clairmont Rd.  The vehicle involved was described as an older sedan (possibly burgundy) and the person with the shotgun was described as a male, approximately 5’8, slim build, wearing a dark colored jacket, and identified by the victim as black.  Two or more other occupants were in the vehicle.

2)     On 11-24-25 at approximately 10:15 pm, a similar incident was reported to have occurred at the intersection of N. Decatur Road and Willivee Drive.  The vehicle involved was described as a silver sedan and the person with the shotgun or rifle was described as a male between 5’8 and 5’11, medium build, short haircut, and identified by the victim as black.

Because these two similar armed robberies took place within a short time period near the Emory campus, we want to make you aware of them so you can consider appropriate safety precautions.   Anyone with information regarding these incidents is encouraged to contact the DeKalb County Police Department at 770-724-7850 or the City of Decatur Police Department at 404-373-6551.

Risk Reduction Tips:

  • Stay alert, trust your instincts, and be aware of your surroundings.
  • If something or someone makes you uneasy, move toward a place where there are other people.
  • Walk in a group, or at least with one other person, whenever possible.
  • Use well-lit and well-traveled areas.
  • Use the safety escort services.
  • Do not leave valuables (cell phones, laptops, etc.) unattended or exposed to public view.
  • Program emergency numbers in your cell phone.
  • Report suspicious behavior to the police immediately.

Call the appropriate number below if you ever feel that your safety or that of others is compromised,to report information about a crime under investigation, or to access resources available for survivors of sexual assault.
