Emory Village Chevron Station Under Renovation To Become Sherlock’s Wine Merchant
Decatur Metro | July 27, 2015 | 10:14 amA couple of weeks ago we shared this pic of an excavator at the long dormant Chevron gas station in Emory Village. Something was going on, but what?
Since then Emory Village Alliance posted this update on their website…
A developer has approached the Emory Village Alliance (EVA) and DeKalb County regarding the conversion of the Chevron site into a wine store and possible future restaurant.
Curbed then pointed to this DeKalb County permit application which shows the developer is Doug Bryant, President of Sherlock’s Wine Merchant.
The building is already undergoing renovation, to convert the building to 2,000 sq ft of retail space. This includes the removal of the underground gas storage tanks. (You can watch a video of that process HERE.)
There’s even mention in the plans of creating a small restaurant in the space some time in the future. As Curbed says, it sounds sorta reminiscent of Leon’s in Decatur.

Wonder if this means they will leave the Cook’s Warehouse space?
I was wondering the same thing. I hope not!
Seems unlikely, but the locations are pretty close…
2,000 sq ft = 40′ x 50′. Not a huge space. What do you think they occupy in Cook’s?
