I can almost see inside now! Closer and closer. You can see my original end of the line photo on Twitter.
Ha! Here ’tis! https://twitter.com/Carl/status/530532886915874816
Hang in there Carl!
Thanks! No movement in the last few minutes. Line still back to the Community Bandstand (I’m in front of Best Time). Totally worth it. 🙂
Jeni’s will be sampling at the Decatur Wine Festival, too.
That’s where I’ll have to sample it, then–we ventured up there last night after dinner, saw the line, & promptly went to MacMcGee’s instead for a wee dram.
Worlds most expensive ice cream : 0 $10.99 for a pint at Candler Park Market
I can’t justifiy the cost. Yogurt Tap and Butter&Cream are better options and local too.
AGREED! Love Yogurt Tap and Butter & Cream.
Yeah, too steep. But those ice cream sandwiches are so damn good!
Did they paint the window trim? The square already offers pretty much all the teal/aqua/Victorian blue-green we’ll need for the foreseeable future.
All those people should be ashamed of themselves.
Because we had a really good time?
Because you gave up time that you can never get back to get an item for free that you can easily afford without investing anywhere near as much time.
Maybe I’m missing something. What was the “really good time” aspect of this event that is missing from a typical visit to an ice cream parlour?
Seriously? If you’re not joking (and I honestly can’t tell), maybe you should spend less time being judgmental over something as harmless as waiting in line & having fun with one’s community, and content yourself instead with spending your own time in any manner you deem wise. You know that old adage about turds & punchbowls, right?
One of the nice perks of being a human is the ability to have unique experiences and enjoy them in our own way. In my 105 mins or so in line, I ran into countless people I know, including the Mayor. I ran into an old friend I hadn’t seen in ages, and I was able to join him later at The Square Pub. I got to unexpectedly sit with some other friends, hear about their lives, and enjoy ice cream. I got to see lots of people enjoying themselves. I went to pickup my new glasses at Warby Parker this afternoon, and who brought them to me? None other than the guy right ahead of me in line last night. It was just that kind of overall experience. Top-notch people enjoying quality ingredients and having fun. Like those credit card commercials: priceless.
Why be judgmental about this? My daughter and I waited in line because it was fun. They brought out tastes of ice cream, people were laughing, why not do it? We have Jeni’s cookbook, and my daughter has made her ice cream since she was 10. Jeni was there, and we wanted to meet her and support the new store. It’s not like I would have cured cancer or fed and clothed all the homeless people in Decatur in the hour or so I spent in line. Life is too short to be mean about silly things like this.
Who cares about who decided to spend time in line and who didn’t….HOW IS THE ICE CREAM??
