    Free-For-All Saturday?

    Decatur Metro | June 14, 2014 | 1:28 pm

UPDATE: I’ve recreated all of yesterday’s posts below.  Obviously all the comments are missing, but wanted to make sure the posts were at least returned to the site.

    ————————————————-

Apparently we had some server issues overnight and lost all content from yesterday.  The words “critical hard drive failure” were among the terms thrown around.

So it looks like you’ll now have the rare and wonderful opportunity to recreate all of your conversations from yesterday’s FFAF.  I believe Dawgfan, Warren and Bulldog were in the throws of a “Will children take over our rising apartment complexes?” rumble, there was a call for pressure washing, train whistles, and all kinds of other threaded fun.

What better way to spend a perfectly lovely Saturday?

Get a First Look at the New Decatur Makers Space

    Decatur Metro | June 14, 2014 | 1:19 pm

Michael sends in details on how to get a first look inside the new Decatur Makers space behind First Christian Church on West Ponce…

    Sneak Preview of Decatur’s Makerspace!

Decatur residents are invited to explore the future home of Decatur Makers this Wednesday, June 18 at 8 p.m. (in the old gym at First Christian Church of Decatur, across from the post office).

The all-ages “makerspace” is slated to open later this summer. Imagine a wood shop, metal shop, computer lab, electronics shop, arts and crafts and more all under one roof, with equipment and expertise to help explore and build interesting things.

Wednesday’s sneak preview / open house will feature maker demonstrations, a preview of renovation plans and more about memberships and other news.

A pre-event mingle will be held at Marlay House Pub starting at 6 p.m., with part of food and drink proceeds benefitting the not-for-profit Decatur Makers.

If you’ve ever wanted to get a look inside that old church gym – and see its makerspace future – RSVP for the event at www.DecaturMakers.org.

The event coincides with the June 18 “National Day of Making” (proclaimed by the White House).

And in case you didn’t catch the Makers contribution at the Decatur Arts Festival a couple weeks back, here it is!
