  1. And the Porsche escapes unscathed, much to the relief of the offending driver’s insurance company.

    1. I still have trouble accepting the Panamera, an $80,000 four-door Porsche. It just seems so wrong.

Of course, it, along with the Cayenne, is very successful, so who am I to argue with VW/Porsche management?

      1. I agree (and think the Panamera is ugly to boot), but virtually no performance car company has resisted the temptation to serve those markets. Did you hear that Lamborghini is going to release a SUV, too? Also a VW company, IIRC.

One thing I will never abide, however, is putting sport designations on SUVs. Seeing an M badge on a BMW SUV, for example . . . please.

        1. Does anyone recall the LM002? Hunter S. Thompson’s object of 1980’s automotive lust? Lamborghini has been down that road previously, before it was trendy. And what a beast it was.

  2. Can’t tell exactly what happened here, but I bet it involved someone running a light. I watched two cars do that this morning at the same intersection. The second car nearly caused an accident.

    1. Both this intersection and Clairemont/Commerce are horrible, with cars accelerating to beat the lights, not understanding the turn arrows or which lanes are for turning and just generally being stupid. The speeds that the east/west cars can gather on Commerce doesn’t help either. People complain every time traffic calming or lane reductions are mentioned but as someone who crosses both of these on foot regularly, I’d be happy for SOMETHING to be done.

      1. I’ve frequently thought it would be nice to have a biggish, one-way loop around downtown, with Commerce being part of it.

        1. That actually was part of a 1970’s plan, but Commerce never crossed the railroad on the west side.
