That answers any questions about keeping the mural.

Wow. I’m shocked. I haven’t been by there. I’m truly shocked.

I think the Living Walls murals are terrible. This mural, however, was awesome. Had a lot more character than a white wall.

We drove by last week and my teenage son gasped. Truly the end of an era.

I can’t even remember what that mural looked like, only that it contributed to a vibrancy in the street scape that a beige wall never will. Down with sterile, “tasteful” exteriors! Up with pink fences covered with broken mirrors and blue faux marble finishes on fake stucco!

Lame, lame, lame. Too sterile for Decatur. I loved that mural.

perhaps they are planning on replacing it with another mural that years from now Decaturites will feel just as sentimental about!

Or more likely, we will argue about its artistic value. I didn’t love the mural, but it was more fun that a tan wall.

It needed to be done. I would have felt differently if the mural didn’t have a bunch of iconic New York things drawn on it, and had it not looked so amateurish. Not very Decatur at all, imo. I can’t wait to see what they do with the space.

It was time. As I’ve argued before, the entirely NYC-focused mural made sense when it when it was on the side of Johnny’s NY Pizza. But when Johnny’s closed, it became just an out-of-place, kitschy eyesore complete with an artlessly spray painted red blob over the Johnny’s logo. Change is inevitable, and just because it’s a blank slate now doesn’t mean it won’t be replaced by another more Decatur-appropriate mural (or greenery or something else) later.

I can’t believe people would actually boycott over something like this. Seriously?

At first I assumed that Token mistakenly commented as Warren rather than Lyrics Only Guy. Then I realized that there’s no way he is also Warren Buffett because there’s no way he’d ever quote a Semisonic song.

Anyway, DAMN YOU whoever you are.

I know who I want to take me home. I know who I want to take me home. I know who I want to take me home. Take me hooome-oh-ohhhhhm, Damn you…

She tries not to shatter, kaleidoscope style
Personality changes behind her red smile
Every new problem brings a stranger inside
Heplessly forcing one more new disguise
          -Siouxsie and the Banshees

That’s it, I’ll leave this to LOG.

Ha! I had no idea this was here. :) I love it – I’m famous! (I also am holding out hope that the white is a blank canvas for a new funky mural to replace it. Pleasepleaseplease?)
