Why oh why can’t Dekalb County install lead lights on College at Candler and Columbia? It is impossible to make left turns in the morning. Who needs to be called?
AMEN! (And then some)
+1000
I have gone to great lengths to find other routes in order to avoid those areas in the morning though they would be a much straighter shot.
Since that is a state route (GA 155), GDOT has to get involved. The County or City can’t do it unilaterally.
Why not make a call to one of the television stations with Commuter Dude (Channel 11) or Pothole Patrol (Channel 46)? They seem to get action on problem intersections.

I’m glad Morning Metro activity has picked up, but maybe the ‘my-world-view-is-superior-to-your-world-view’-inspired comments can wait for FFAF (after 5pm?).
Bobby, It’s awfully superior to suggest my comments may need to wait until later in the day.
Perhaps it is. I’m not in favor of “after 5pm” (?), but it has been suggested that FFAF should respect a TGIF spirit. I can’t recite the unwritten protocol and my have transgressed it, but I gave it a nod, with respect intended.

Latest McRib information:
What do McRib and a yoga mat have in common?”
I wanted to blurt out “They are both made of rubber”, read the article, and then realized I should blurt that out!
I need a recommendation for a mechanic for a ’97 BMW.
Munich South on North Decatur Road – just past the big Kroger on the north side of the street. Took my previous German car (Audi) to them and was pleased with the work and prices.
It’s Munich West, not South, and they are good. I’ve been taking my ’91 318 convertible there for years.
Thanks for the correction – knew it was directionally relative to the real Munich. Just missed it by 90 degrees.
I’ve used Munich West for years on a few of my E30s (84-91 bmw 3 series). I’ve got an E24 (late 70s to late 80s 6 series ) now and love it. so far tho, I’ve been able to do everything myself, but when I can’t (since like most of my neighbors I don’t have a driveway!) I’ll be heading to Munich West. I may give that guy on E Ponce a shot too tho, can’t hurt.
For newer BMWs, I know Quantum here in Decatur do work on them, http://www.qmauto.com/
I think they are/were a sponsor on DM as well.
Offtopic but for Subaru work, it’s always Six Star!
ok enough car nerd for now.
Stacy Sparks at Sport Motoring, on E. Ponce just past the strip club, specializes in BMWs and other German makes. He’s an Oakhurst resident, member of the Decatur Business Association, friendly and trustworthy. I recommend him without hesitation.
All directions should include a strip club.
Amen
Does anyone know of a good laundry service (wash and fold, charge by the pound) on this side of Atlanta?
I think the laundromat in Oakhurst will do it.
Can anyone recommend a good service electrician for some routine residential projects?
Scott Spinner- 770-621-0569. He is independent and does very good work and reliable. Price is reasonable for the work done but not cheap.
Mathew Morgan of Oakhurst Electric. His number is 770-256-7174. He’s a super friendly guy and has done great work for us.
Seconded
thirded!
4th’d.
Perfect – thanks!
Hey y’all, thanks for the shout outs. I really do live in Oakhurst.
May all your electrical work be elective.

Bernard Brown – 404-895-1027 – just had him do multiple light installations for less than $200.
Oakhurst Electric Mathew Morgan is great!!
Holiday Marketplace in 2 weeks! Friday, December 2 and Saturday, December 3. Come by for unique gifts, awesome music, great soup and unbelievable desserts. Clairemont Elementary on Erie Ave.
This event marks the begin of the holiday season for my hubby and I. It is such a charming and utterly delightful tradition. If you haven’t gone, be sure to go this year!
Curious about the crackdown on cyclists. Do any Decaturmetro readers know cyclists who have been issued moving violations by the DPD in the past couple months? And does anyone know cyclists who have been issued warnings?
Search the Friday Free For alls from late September and Early October. It was around that time that a woman shared a story about her husband being ticketed for running a stop sign.
There was a guy here- Glockenspiel, or spieler or something like that. He has a website attached to his name and on it he writes about his experience. It’s on one of the other FFAF posts a while back.
I knew we were in trouble the other night when we ordered a pizza margherita and the server said, “Frozen, on the rocks, or straight up?”.
You too? I was ordering delivery from Zucca on Monday night and had the same thing happen! In their defense, the person taking the order was brand new and I could tell that he had someone coaching him. It did give me a little giggle, though!
hey guys, what’s good to do in decatur on friday nights?
Go to the bars.
Did they ask if you wanted salt around the crust?
Tonight two of Decatur’s all-time greatest athletes will be recognized before the DHS basketball games at the DHS Gymnasium.
The “Wall of Honor” ceremony will take place at 7:00 pm (immediately preceeding the varsity girls game) Friday night, November 18, 2011. The two inductees are Larry Morris (DHS class of ’51) and Clarence Scott (Trinity High School class of 1967). Please join us Friday night as we honor these two amazing alumni athletes!
Both of these guys had tremendous college and professional football careers after leaving Decatur. For those who don’t know, Trinity was the school for Decatur’s black students before integration and was housed in what is now called the Beacon Center.
Re: Beacon Center. Interesting. Is this essentially the same building as Ebster Gym/Police Station? It does look like a school. When did it close as a school?
A local historian could correct me, but I believe the high school was integrated the next year (1968).
65-66 was the first year of the integrated schools in Decatur. That was also the first year of the new high school building.
There are plans to rehab the Beacon Hill site to make it more functional and more multi-purpose, with some preservation/memorialization of its roots as the historically black high school and hub of the Beacon Hill African-American community. I believe the plans are online- should be a great addition to the community when done. Not sure what the time line will be.
Plans are as far as it’s gotten. The overall concept is to build an essentially new police station incorporating a portion of the present one and restore/rehab the rest of the building as an artist and recreation space, while also interpreting it as the historic venue that it is. We’re talking $2M or $3M, but maybe now that we’re finally getting $1M or so every year from the HOST there can be some money to do it.
Just discovered that Groupon has some great “Groupon Now” deals for $1, today only. I just purchased $4 worth of food at Skips hotdogs and $5 at Cole’s Italian Ice (Candler/Memorial) for $1. There are about 10 more deals ITP, and apparently some of the proceeds go to Feeding America organization.
Trish, I **think** but am not sure that Cole’s Italian Ice may be closed! I drove by there yesterday on my way home from work, and it looked closed. I hope not!
I thought they closed every year for the season, but maybe not since they were on the $1 deal.
Hey everyone,
I plan on doing all my shopping locally and was just wondering if there are any stores in the downtown area that will gift wrap for you? I just don’t know if I have it in me to wrap all my presents myself this year, especially since I usually end up waiting until the very last minute!
Little Shop of Stories!!!! (Yes, I’m plugging the shop where I work.)
Homegrown (I think that’s the name! The awesome shop on Church, next to the kitchen place) has wrapped gifts for me before (purchased there – duh) so I would check it out.
Most of them will do at least a gift bag with tissue paper. Glad you are supporting the local merchatns. Be sure to do some shopping on Terrific Thursdays.
Seventeen Steps and Heliotrope
Alexia Gallery has a great selection of handmade jewelry and other gifts at a wide range of prices, and their gift boxes/wrapping materials are very classy and pretty.
Wife and I went to Vivid Boutique on the square 2 weeks ago, they gift wrapped our purchases. great service too!
love vivid boutique!!
I bought my bridesmaid gifts from Vivid and was given beautiful gift bags and tons of tissue. They are super nice in there. Also, Homegrown does the prettiest wrapping.
Agree with all these great suggestions but am hoping you know the best trick if you buy from a store that doesn’t wrap–use real cheap tissue paper–get a gazillion from Family or Dollar General (see thread above) and you just crinkle it on and use one or two pieces of tape. No cutting, folding corners, putting edges together, etc. It’s not gorgeous art, but kind of folksy. Santa would never make it through Christmas Eve without the tissue paper approach.

Any suggestions for someone to put the lights on our Christmas tree and do outside garland and lights?
Can you actually pay people to do that? What an idea.
Might as well try!
So, with the hordes descending next week, I’d be grateful for a recommendation on somewhere nearby to rent tables and chairs.
Decatur Rental on N.Decatur near N. Superior.
Let’s see where this goes. And its a question for fellow Atlantans as much as anything.
How is it possible that Atlanta’s own Herman Cain has made it this far on the national stage (allegations of bad behavior aside)? Did anyone else on here ever listen to his radio show on 750? And would it ever be possible to get access to those shows? (No, I haven’t pursued this, but I’m surprised I haven’t heard any reporters doing this yet).
A couple of years ago, I would catch him during my ride home. It was about the time that every other station kept playing Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA” over and over and over and over, so I had to find something else. But then I would listen just for the entertainment value.
I recall thinking “How can this person actually be hosting a talk show?” (Conclusion: no one listens to talk radio after 7 p.m., so they must just be filling airspace…) Mostly I recall vague and practically incoherent rantings about Obama’s health plan. But sometimes I had no idea what he was talking about because he was so long winded and rambling.
I’m just really surprised pols and journos haven’t gotten hold of some of those tapes and uncovered just how unpresidential this person is. Then again , maybe there is no need, as it looks like he is going to continue to slowly self-sabotage (to the extent he hasn’t already).
Chewey, right there with you. Until I got an app that lets me listen to KPOJ in Portland, I sometimes took crappy radio music refuge on that side of the dial. I felt sorry for Cain because he seemed so….not bright; he also used to sub for 5th rate lawyer Neal Boortz. He made Boortz seem shiny as a new penny.
Hi Nelliebelle,
If you like cruising for other radio stations, try KUOW in Seattle. It’s an NPR station with great local programming and reporting. I purchased an internet radio just so I can listen in the kitchen when I’m away from my computer!
Well, in light of the fact that a supposedly uber-bright and unfailingly “presidential” former community organizer is currently flailing away in the White House, perhaps some folks are just looking for a hoping for a change. The audacity!
Crap. Looking for or hoping for . . .
Please. Herman isn’t fit to be a dogcatcher. This ‘presidential’ run was to increase his fame so he can take over Boortz’s time spot on the increasingly useless WSB.
+1000 Thanks DEM!
Thank you. I know it’s obvious to almost everyone now, but it stands repetition: Intelligence alone doesn’t make a good leader. (In addition, despite the current occupant’s degrees, he sure hasn’t demonstrated much to support the myth of his intellect.)
Herman’s son was working in the former DFB main office for a couple of weeks as part of the Fidelity transition team.
I don’t think Chewey was saying Cain is not intelligent. He/She was saying that he/she didn’t like his radio show. When opponents can’t make a serious, thoughtful argument based on policy, they usually grasp for some unimportant aspect of the candidate, like the entertainment value of his radio show. On the other hand, I was surprised at Nelliebelle questioning his intelligence because I think she knows better.
Well done.
I see what you did here and I very much admire the oh-so subtle undermining of my comment/criticism of the candidate.
You are a good sport Chewey for not firing back and thanks for the compliment. For the record, I never cared much for his radio show either.
I am saying it was how he presented himself on the radio…. I swear, I really did feel sorry for him. He can’t be stupid; but he acquitted himself terribly on that show. There was an element of tokenism about his banter with Boortz and later his own solo appearances (he was a frequent guest on Boortz) that was just painful.I don’t think that perception was simply my white progressive skin. Boortz was trotting out his black conservative friend like a prize and that seemed to carry over to Cain’s solo show. Of course, I am not discounting that I imagined the whole dynamic but I still found the interplay troubling and Cain’s show did nothing to showcase Cain as a sharp knife.
Ugh. Politics. Do we really have almost another year of all this? I understand your perplexity, Chewey. I think Cain and Newt will fall out eventually. But I’m skeptical about the individual’s, or collective’s, ability to judge how well someone would perform as chief executive. The best I hope for is that this grueling process will allow us to identify and eliminate the deviants, womanizers, exceptionally megalomaniacal, etc.
“… eliminate the deviants, womanizers, exceptionally megalomaniacal, etc.”
Really?
You do understand that by “eliminate” I mean “from the race” and not from society, right? Let’s please not twist words.
And Yes, really. I obviously don’t have a high opinion of politics. It’s a big waste of time, IMO. And the ever-growing list of stupid human tricks displayed by Spitzer, Wiener, Clinton, John Edwards, as a few recent examples, tends to solidify my position. Can’t say Cain is in this category, at least not yet, but if he wants the GOP nod he’s got some ‘splainin to do!
I got what you meant.
Unrealistic to me that candidates meeting any or all of your string of descriptors can be eliminated from the political scene. People seeking power are in it to win.
A couple of years ago I was driving back from Athens at night and was stuck in a hellascious jam, and decided to call in. After being on hold for 35 minutes, I challenged a few things he said in a civil manner, and he promptly hung up on me. I never listened again, but his debate tactics haven’t changed much.
So you’re saying that your claims were REJECT?!?
He rejected them, then he forgot them, then he remembered them but forgot them again, but didn’t know about the settlements, but then he did, he’s never met her or her or her or her or her, Princess Pelosi, Anita Hill ha ha ha, something like that….
I listened to parts of his show a couple of times and always imagined him sitting there looking like Tim Meadows’ “Ladies Man” character. So disappointed when I actually saw him for real.
I know I can’t be the only one who is mystified that a state legislator is putting a bill in to require new license plates to say “in god we trust” and if you want the county sticker, you’ll have to pay for it.
INSANITY!
I’m just gonna break out the scissors and swap the G and D…
+1
Better leave the scissors in the drawer and break out the tin-snips instead. I think the proposal is for it to be on the plate itself and the county choice would be a sticker over top if you chose. They’ll do whichever they think will make them more money. Are there more who would insist on covering up God, or are there more who are willing to pay for God?
Which ones are better, the ones with or without “stars on thars?”
Why would I not be allowed to black it out myself, as long I’m not changing any identifiers? Regardless, I believe this should be challenged in court because the state is forcing people to identify their beliefs by forcing them to pay for the religiously neutral option.
I’m not surprised at all. The Republican Party has largely been taken over by yahoos. A lot of Republicans admit this privately–some of them publicly. I’ve watched campaigns pretty closely since 1988, and this slate of Republicans is by far the most clownish I’ve see. Whoever wins the general in 2012, I don’t think I’m going out very far on a limb in saying that it will be Hillary Clinton in 2016.
“I know I can’t be the only one who is mystified that a state legislator is putting a bill in to require new license plates to say “in god we trust” and if you want the county sticker, you’ll have to pay for it.”
Someone had to carry on Bobby Franklin’s legacy of proposing asinine legislation that can never pass or stand up in court. This might pass, but I suspect it would be successfully challenged in court.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a local restaurant or grocer who sells prepared whole turkeys or turkey breast? I’m looking to forgo the turkey cooking process this year. I will accept all forms of public humiliation from my fellow Decaturites in return for a good turkey tip 🙂
Mercantile or Sawicki’s if it isn’t too late. Not sure re Oakhurst Market.
Community Q bar-b-que – hubby just ordered ours today while picking up lunch. We had a ham from these folks for Christmas Dinner last year – yumo! Decided to try their turkey this year. I usually cook our turkey every year but decided to enjoy my day off by not spending it all day in the kitchen!
I just ordered a turkey from Shields in Emory village (next to CVS) – he’s doing cooked or raw birds…
http://www.shieldsmarket.com/Shields_Meat_Market/Poultry.html
Thanks for the leads! I put an order in w/ Community Q and will pick my hot bird up at 11 Thanksgiving day. Could not have been easier.
🙂 enjoy!
+1. I’ll see you there at 11a:-). Because of this wonderful FFAF thread, I am no longer stressing about the turkey. Thanks Decatur Metro and Community Q!
If a smoked Turkey appeals to you, Fox Brothers BBQ is accepting orders through this Sunday.
Does anyone know if WalMart will be able to sell booze at its new location since there is a church across the street?
FFAF, Imma let you finish, but the Family Dollar thread gonna crush you in comments…

I just found out that The Phoenix School in Oakhurst has two openings in its three year old room, the Bambinis. This is very unusual as the school usually has a pretty long waiting list. The added bonus is that you get first dibs on any open spots for siblings (especially for new siblings in the babies room, which is such a hard spot to find here in the Atlanta metro) and, even better, you get a guaranteed slot in the Phoenix Georgia Pre-K program the following year, funded by the State, so no tuition aside from a meal fee and after care (if you need it).
To be eligible, your child needs to be four by 09/01/2012.
If you’re unfamiliar with The Phoenix School, it is a warm, nurturing, small school environment (roughly 60 kids over the five classes by age) with a high degree of teacher tenure and a loving, family-vibe. My daughter has been there for three years (currently in the pre-K room) and we have been consistently thrilled.
If you are interested, please call the school and speak with either Director Beverly White or Assistant Director Judy Williams, 404-687-9010.
Does anyone know of a bed and breakfast near Decatur Square? We have family coming in and there is not enough space in our cozy bungalow. It is for a family of four (kids are 10 and 12) and a single room for Uncle Scott. We want to keep them in walking distance of square. They would only need it for Friday Nov 25th.
you can give this a try: http://gardenhousebedandbreakfastdecatur.com/
I looked around on a few of the neighborhood message boards and didn’t find any current information:
I’m looking for a referral to a family practice/internal medicine physician within a reasonable distance from Decatur who:
*Feels comfortable working with older adults (not elderly) and vice versa
*Is not close to retirement
*Doesn’t have tens of thousand of patients and therefore is fairly easy to get short-notice appointments and/or is in a practice where one can be seen by another physician or at least by a PA/NP
*Gender of the physician doesn’t matter
Thanks in advance.

Dr. Timothy Watts in Oakhurst. L-O-V-E him! You can get an appointment within day(s) not weeks; never a wait when you get there; and he really listens and cares. My in-laws now drive over an hour to see him.
Was looking for something on the city website and happened on the page for the Rec Center renovation. Apparently part of the expense involves a time machine, because the page shows the following: Construction: July 2011 – October 2010

Does anyone know what’s being built in front of the Memorial Drive Wal-Mart? My husband swears it looks like a Red Robin.
Red Robin. Yum.
SunTrust
Anyone know of a good authentic Korean BBQ restaurant?
I like Hae Woon Dae on Buford Highway, though we haven’t been in quite awhile.
I concur.
I read somewhere (I think on this forum) that it is going to be a SunTrust Branch
^Whoops should have gone under Magpies question
Whoops should have gone under M.A.P.s answer 🙂
St. Thomas More School is having its HUGE annual bake sale tomorrow and sunday (think FOUR classrooms FULL of homemade goodies that you can take to your Thanksgiving feast: whole pies and cakes, cookies, and breads all very reasonably priced). Proceeds help pay for the 8th graders’ class retreat in January. No one has to know that you didn’t make it yourself…
Tis the season for craft shows, apparently. I’ll plug one more – just outside of Decatur, the Atlanta Progressive Preschool fair is December 3 from 11-3. http://atlantaprogressivepreschool.org/craft-fair/ If you find my table and say that you saw my post on Decatur Metro, I’ll give you one free button. 🙂
PS Twitter Hivemind said the Big Lots at Suburban Plaza was mysteriously closed. I haven’t been over there since – is it closed for good? Please say no…
Perhaps it’s closed cause the rats figured out how to cross the road to get fresh goods. Well, almost expired goods, really.
What? Really? Someone? Heeeelp.
Since when? Went in last weekend and it didn’t look like they were planning on closing — aisles were fully stocked.
I was there on Thursday, it was open and business was brisk.
Big lots was open today.
Anybody notice that Burnt Fork is closed tonight? Is it temporary? (If already mentioned on DM, apologies for the repeat.)
Must have been temporary. Picked up lunch from there today.
I might need a new furnace. I wonder if anyone has any advice!
I had a visit from Ace & A. $800 quote for repair of my furnace that was in a flood two years ago, $1725 for new furnace (with $200 coupon).
My current furnace allegedly needs a new induced draft motor ($577), flame sensor ($103) and pressure switch ($118) ($798 total). The worry is that since its been flooded (2 years ago), maybe the big blower fan will die and need to be replaced at $500-$600, taking the repair cost to near that of a new one.
New one would be a Ruud brand, 80%, 75K BTU. $1925 with $200 coupon to $1725.
Anyone know if there are any Decatur Wise or energy efficiency rebates out there?
THANKS!
Nathan.nobis AT gmail.
For something that expensive, get at least 3 estimates. Shumate did right by me.
Check with the gas companies to see if there are any rebates or deals going on.
My furnace was flooded and it was highly recommended that I replace everything since there was no telling what would rust out and possibly be dangerous.
i highly recommend wes cardell…we had serious a/c problems this summer and were told we needed a new unit…i called wes and he came out on a sunday and fixed the problem. he is highly resourceful and an all around great guy!

sorry…forgot to mention that major plus…that makes him a slam dunk!
THanks all. Here’s Wes’s webpage: http://www.ensphereservices.com/About.html
I am currently suspecting my furnace was misdiagnosed and the fix will be much cheaper and less dramatic.
Following up on the Megabus discussion here from a few weeks ago…I gave it a “trial run” to Chattanooga to see if it would be acceptable for longer trips. I was satisfied that it would be. Bus was reasonably comfortable, though not much leg room. There are power outlets at each seat., and the wireless internet worked well. A thumbs-up overall. They don’t take cash for payment, so that should limit the number of shadier characters boarding (in fact, I think you can only book online). One of the employees told me they are considering adding a Savannah stop. I’d definitely like to see that happen. Oh, I should mention that it is NOT useful for a visit to Chattanooga unless you have someone picking you up. It stops at a shopping center right off I-75 that is nowhere near downtown Chattanooga.
I think most Megabus and similar operations have their stops somewhere other than the center of the city. The Atlanta stop on Peachtree out of the ordinary for them – that’s one way they can keep their fares low since they don’t have to pay for a building or station staff. Greyhound, however, does offer some competing express service that uses regular Greyhound stations.
From what I’ve been told, the Nashville and Charlotte drop off points are in the city centers.
I was just thinking this morning about how great a Savannah megabus stop would be… guess we need to start an email request campaign!
Ever notice that other than the Square, Decatur really doesn’t have much on the way of Savannah style-urban parks near downtown?
That would mainly be because Savannah was designed, well before Decatur, to have squares from the get-go. It was part of Oglethorpe’s plan. Decatur’s plan, like many county seats, was to have one square for the court house. As with many, if not most, towns, Decatur just evolved.
I like how many Decatur residents CAN walk to a neighborhood park, such Adair for us, Glenlake, McKoy, Oakhurst for us. I keep finding more pocket parks each year- had fun exploring one near Seneca and Champlaign a few weekends ago. Though not as stately as the Savannah squares, our parks are something most Atlantans don’t have with such easy accessibility!
Maybe I’m weird, but I kind of like that the best green space in Decatur is a cemetery. I enjoy walking the paths and stopping to read an inscription occasionally. Good place to walk and think. I also like it because people tend to be more respectful than in a park.
not wierd at all! I shouldn’t have left the cemetary off the list, great place to be outside. Picking up a little history on the side is a huge bonus.
I’m in. I love Savannah, but I don’t get there often because I despise the drive. Would also love to see an Asheville stop, but I don’t see that happening.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
Just wanted to comment on how well Chris Billingsley and the DHS Close Up Club did on my yard today. The leaves are all gone and it looks great. The kids (and Chris) really worked hard and were very courteous and friendly. Thank you!
We look forward to participating in Rake n Run next year.
Good luck to the club in their future travels!
A big SHOUT OUT to the Decatur High School Close Up kids and Mr. B who came out to rake and bag THIRTY FIVE large bags of maple, sweetgum and pine leaves from our front and back yards! The kids were incredibly hard working and polite and did an awesome job. So glad they could fit us in after all!
I echo Brian and J_T on the great experience with Rake-n-Run & the Close Up kids– very hard working, beautiful back yard, polite and listened well to all Mr. Billingsley’s good leaf removal advice. I hope they have a great trip to DC!
Agreed! The kids and chaperones could not have been nicer. We now have 22 bags of leaves out front. They did a great job.
Just gonna say Little Shop of Stories may be the best bookstore in the history of the world. : )
What restaurants in and around Decatur are open for pick up on Thanksgiving day? No kids or parents, so PJs and movies for us!
Ted’s is open. I think Sushi Avenue is too. I’m pretty sure Golden Buddha is open along with the other Chinese restaurants outside of Decatur.
Do any of you have any ideas/recommendations on what volleyball resources exist in and around Decatur for a beginner? My daughter is a 5th grader. Thanks
Come on AJC, where’s my paper? I’d like to call you and tell you it’s not here, but the number you have listed doesn’t seem to be working.
404-522-4141. The recording says they’re having problems (second week in a row) and all deliveries should be done by 10:30 but register a complaint if you still want to.
Thank you. Will wait til’ then. A complimentary NYT had been delivered by 7 (or it was a mistake), and it won’t go to waste. But if it had to come at the expense of what’s actually being paid for, I’d prefer they keep the freebie and just do the regular delivery on time.
I doubt if the AJC had anything to do with the NYT on your porch.
Back in the day the AJC drivers used to deliver the NYT papers for them. Though I have no idea if they still do.
I don’t think so, because I got the WSJ for a while and it was delivered by the same carrier as NYT, who was definitely not the AJC carrier.
I think it depends on the territory. I have occasionally received an AJC isntead of a NYT. And one time when the NYT wasn’t delivered and I called for a replacement, they dropped off an AJC instead. Am betting that kind of thing happens when somebody new takes over a route and/or when there’s a sub.
Got my WSJ yesterday, but not today…. weird.
You get WSJ on Sunday ?
lol no, just on sat for the “weekend” edition
Called at 10:30 and they asked, “do you want it delivered?” Really? They said they would send someone right out with it, in 3 hours. Customer service at its finest. Still not here.
With my six-pack in hand, I drove by Chick-fil-A hoping for a sandwich. No luck, but I still felt so naughty on a Sunday!
One day I’ll become a chick fila franchisee, and secretly open on sundays. the only Rogue Chickfila. i’ll become a millionaire on the first sunday.
I’ll charge you a quarter of that million to defend you against the Catheys’ lawsuit right after that!
Critter removal needed.
Last night, I heard a critter (sounded like an oppossum or a racoon) crawling around in my attic. Awesome! I need someone who can come and scope out the situation, remove the critter(s), clean up whatever mess there is, and seal up the point of entry. Sounds like a hoot and a holler, I know. Would appreciate any recommendations (for or against) local critter removal companies.
Thanks in advance!
