OK, maybe I should have combined these all into one post!
I just received word from District 2 Commissioner Kecia Cunningham that she would also be running for reelection in the fall. This means all current sitting Decatur commissioners up for reelection will run again.
Will any of these sitting commishes have competition this year? Only time will tell!

Uncontested elections are a failure of our democracy, generally speaking.
Who has the passion, some time, and shows a willingness to solicit input and weigh concerns… karass? 🙂
I’ve explained in other threads that I don’t have the right personality or home/work situation for an elected position. But I am a great supporter, worker, donator to local campaigns! Agree completely that at least two candidates are necessary for a worthwhile election. You need two teams for a real ballgame and two candidates for a real vote. A campaign results in candidates laying out their views and positions and engaging in dialogue with their constituents. Even an experienced, popular incumbent benefits from the process. A good example is the last CSD School Board election–some of the discussion with the community that started during the campaigns has continued with some members.
Do you think anyone would have a chance of winning against any of the sitting commissioners?
Excellent news that Kecia Cunningham is running again! She’s exactly the kind of official we want– she has vision AND keeps an eye of the bottom line. Although it’d be a difficult and often thankless role, she definitely has it in her to lead us to becoming the all embracing community we say we want to be.
