And before Parker beats me to it:

“Something there is that doesn’t love a wall”

Hah! Something moving faster than the posted speed limit, I reckon.

I bet that’s where the jaywalkers are creeping out.

Are you kidding me! We should start putting a sign that that is updated daily/weekly.

______ days since someone ran their car into me.

        I love that idea, James.

I saw an officer there yesterday, but I didn’t see the damage. It is a scary turn — especially if you are going 50 mph.

Even scarier for the person on the sidewalk.

You say that as if you make a habit of it…

Our house backs up to that stretch of Commerce, and I’ve lost count of the number of accidents I’ve heard occur there (usually in the middle of the night). Between that dead man’s curve and the already notorious intersection with Ponce, anyone with a brain in their head shouldn’t be going over 30. But I guess it’s not the folks with brains I should be worried about (they’re for the zombies).

I wonder if their insurer is going to pay the amount necessary to bring the wall into compliance with current building standards?

Anyone have a view as to the insurers obligation or the current code on the wall? How does the ‘historic’ designation fit into this?

There is no building code for a fence…

How do you figure that the fence is in violation? What standard are you refering to?

      • Ridgelandistan says:

Are you playing “blame the victim” on a wall?
The only code violation here was traffic related.

Daren took the picture. What’s his car look like?

We came upon the accident that caused this Saturday night. Someone going too fast around the turn in the rain.

Those who run into the fence should, in my opinion, have to pay for the restoration of that fence as well as for the traffic citation.

How hard is it to steer your car?

And this is why I’m afraid to walk along the sidewalk there. My wife and I routinely walk along there to cut through the cemetery. I always have a watchful eye on the road. I might need to rethink my route.
