Decatur Police Respond to Robbery in BB&T Parking Lot

    Decatur Metro | October 14, 2010 | 2:53 pm

Earlier today NFDecatur reported on Twitter…

And a bunch of cops (even some detectives) just all lit off at once heading north-ish. I expect a full report from @dmetro later today.

Well, I’m not sure this can be considered a “full report” on my part, but here’s what caused the rush north, according to Decatur Deputy Police Chief Keith Lee…

A person was robbed in the BB&T parking lot on Clairmont. One of our officers was at the YMCA and heard the call for DeKalb PD. He chased the suspect but lost sight of him. We assisted DeKalb PD with the search, but the suspect was not located.

The BB&T bank is located just outside the Decatur city limits.

Aaaargh. This is right next to the credit union where I use the drive through ATM for free. Kind of isolated. Always makes me nervous

      Wasn’t that bank robbed recently?

Any more details on this incident? Between the DeKalb Medical Center robbery and this, it’s getting a little too Wild West around here.

At least there weren’t two homicides last weekend immediately south of Oakhurst. Oh wait, there were? Well, time for my annual ‘crime-wave-taking-over-city-going-to-heck-in-a-handbasket’ paranoia to kick in.

All of Atlanta has become like the Wild West. Actually more like Mad Max!
