    Pin-Ups Owner Shot and Killed

    Decatur Metro | September 7, 2010 | 3:09 pm

UPDATE: The AJC reports that the owner of Pin-Ups Terry Stephenson was killed.

    Oakhurst Mom writes in…

Any info on what’s going down at Pin-Ups on Ponce? Was just coming home from the Farmer’s Mkt & there were a ton of police, police vans & the entire parking lot was roped off with crime scene tape.

Yep.  The AJC tweeted moments ago…

Shooting, possible fatal, at Pinups east of Decatur. Story soon.

And the paper just put up this post saying that details are still sketchy.

    Stay tuned.

Lots of activity there lately. The past two Sundays on my way to YDFM I’ve seen cops in the parking lot talking to/arresting/questioning people.

Reread the article. It was an employee that was shot.

The bike path to Stone Mountain goes by here, right?

        It does

That was scary. I was on the way to take my car to the shop and had several officers fly past me, converge on the place. The fire truck and other officers were already there taking someone out on a stetcher. Car repair people said they had heard the gunshots, but weren’t surprised to hear gunshot coming out of there. We went across to Dek Ind’l and the “long” way home.

Makes one wonder what Decatur would do if it ever annexed that stretch. It’s never allowed liquor stores nor strip joints. Just bars and pool halls.

      bike path does go by..

it;s on the wide sidewalk on south side of ponce

what does that have to do with anything?

i noticed about 3 weeks ago a guard at YDFM with a loaded, visible double barreled shotgun, at the front of the parking lot

how do you know it was loaded?

        cause cyclists can’t out-pedal a bullet. maybe that’s why.

I saw the same guy, but wasn’t so sure he was a security guard. I thought about alerting the management about him because I’d never seen anything like that before at YDFM.

Shotgun armed guards at YDFM have been there for a long time, more than a year, after 6pm. Ya’ll don’t go there at night much?

It’s important to know about the bike path so that innocent CoDers don’t get led astray into the duplicitous, bike-path laden, bullety arms of unincorporated DeKalb.

I wonder how the county will shut this place down if the victim was the sole owner of the business. No new adult entertainment clubs are allowed to open or change ownership in Dekalb County.

Oops, I meant to say wonder IF, not wonder how.

      • Steve says:
        September 8, 2010 at 10:01 am

AJC says the victim’s late father was a co-owner along with someone else.

Might’ve been a good idea for me to have read the article.

Jeff, do you have a code citation for that? I was curious about the same thing but can’t find it in the county code.

          September 9, 2010 at 9:08 am

I’ll see if I can track it down. I remember there was a lot of discussion of this on the now defunct GoDekalb forum when the owner of Strokers was running for a seat on the county comission a couple years ago.

Hopefully I’ll have time to dig through this link today and find the exact language prohibiting change of ownership and/or the moratorium on new adult entertainment licenses.

Is this the same information you looked at?

Dang, that’s not a direct link…see Chapet 15, Article XII at that link.
