Dog Hit On Commerce Drive This Morning

On Commerce this morning, between the high school and the housing community, I moved a dog that had been hit by a car to the east side of the road. It was cold then so maybe it was hit around 7am?
He/she is smallish, maybe 20 lbs, mostly black with tan paws, floppy curly ears and a short ~4” tail. If I were guessing, I’d say it was a cocker mix. He had a blue clip-on collar; no tags. I have the collar in case the owner wants it. I failed to notice whether it was male or female.
I’ve let Church St. Animal Hospital and Village Vets know in case some one calls them. They have my contact info. When animal control opens I’ll let them know too.
Makes me sad that someone’s baby went out for their morning “business” and never returned.

How sad! That is so thoughtful of you to move the body off the road, though.
Someone just walked down Coventry Rd with a nice looking dog … and no leash. The dog was all over the place.
He was otherwise busy with a stroller and cell phone.
This same morning, there was a small brown cat dead in the road on E College near the intersection of S Columbia. I used to see it around the neigborhood–it was feral but didn’t look hungry or in bad shape. Never could get close enough to see if he/she had a collar.
