Opening in May, Avondale's Savage Pizza Will Deliver to Decatur

April 17, 2009 | 1:35 pm

Michele Hennessy, a Glennwood teacher and owner of the soon-to-open Savage Pizza in Avondale Estates gives us a quick update…

We have an existing location in Little Five Points that has been open for 13 years. The new location is slated to be open at the end of May. It is located on the corner of Clarendon and Laredo Dr. We will deliver to the Avondale and Decatur areas. It has a huge patio, nice bar and overall a beautifully designed building.

Definitely looking forward to the new location of Savage Pizza. I have already confirmed they will deliver to Oakhurst. Delicious!

Delivery will be they key to their success. While Savage Pizza is the worst pizza I’ve ever had, I would consider trying them again just for the convenience of delivery. It’s surprising how few places deliver to Decatur.

Mojo’s delivers–I really like their white pizza (with Gorgonzola cheese and garlic).

Oh yeah. More pizza. Let’s make a list of all the pizza places within from L5P to Avondale and see if we run out of room on the blog.

Savage’s Tomato Basil is the best pizza out there. So happy to have them close to home!

No way! They have great pizza! Second only to Fritti in mho. Try a tomato basil pie with fresh tomatoes and garlic sauce. Wow, that’s good stuff.

You must be kidding … while it may not be Dominos or Papa Johns if there is one thing that Decatur doesn’t lack it is pizza places and pizza places that deliver.

Although I love Savage (probably second only to Cameli’s), I have heard some distressing stories about their delivery to people even in very close proximity to their original location. The issues surround their use of non-insulated carriers, often resulting in lukewarm or cold pizza. I hope they will will invest more in this aspect of the delivery process with the new location. I will be very excited to have them a bit closer (in perception if not in actuality).
