    Callaway Building Demolition Begins

    Decatur Metro | January 24, 2017 | 2:29 pm

After years of standing there rusty and neglected – and after many recent weeks of asbestos abatement – the Callaway Building at the center of downtown Decatur is being demolished today.   Barb sent in this photo.

The demolition is making way for the Cousins development, which was signed off on by the Decatur City Commission last year.

I know a full size grocery store was determined to be unworkable in the Cousins Development, but what about Savi Market like the ones in Inman Park and Brookhaven.

There is a space of just under 10,000 sq. ft. that could likely accommodate a specialty market but I haven’t heard that any tenant has been landed.
