Decatur To Host Fermentation Festival This Sunday!
Decatur Metro | January 17, 2017 | 11:19 amIf you all love fermentation as much as I do, you will be rapturous after hearing this news. Decatur Square will host the first ever “Fermentation Fest ATL” this Sunday, January 22nd from 11a-4p!
“OK, shut up and give us a description.”, I hear you thinking. Ok, here it is off the website…
Come enjoy a free day of fermentation fun to celebrate living foods and beverages and the artisans who produce them! Hosted by The Homestead Atlanta & Golda Kombucha, Fermentation Fest ATL is a first-of-its-kind event in Atlanta, and it’s gonna be a grand ol’ time.
Fermentation enthusiasts, real food lovers, and those interested in the benefits of living foods are invited out to shop our Makers Marketplace featuring fermented goods from bread to kimchi, cheese to charcuterie. In between shopping, visitors will be treated to demos, yoga sessions & more on our Wellness Stage.
Plus, explore the DIY Fermentation Station where everyone can learn to make and take home their own jar of pickled vegetables. Continuing with the education component, we are looking forward to Georgia Tech’s Science Corner with microscopes to view live bacteria and expert speakers to educate our visitors on the benefits of living foods.
Other noteworthy events include our Culture Swap, where fellow fermenters can exchange cultures, as well as a Homebrew Competition with some of the city’s most prestigious brewers as judges. Additionally, for a suggested donation of $5, adults can enjoy our Fermented Beverage Garden serving different locally fermented drinks including beer, wine, cider, mead, and more!
Kimchi! Sourdough! Mead! Beer! Cheese! All the best foods in life are a result of fermentation. (Even chocolate, folks.)
So is it Saturday or Sunday? The posting says Saturday but that date (1/22) is Sunday.
Shoot. Sunday – I will fix.
