      Too bad that the small woods have to go to accommodate this demand for housing…
      Will it be as an interesting a place once the character is completely changed?

        It depends. People tend to be interesting. Maybe even more interesting than trees. People have to live somewhere. I’d rather develop homes and communities intown rather than force those people to move out to the ex-urbs. It’s more sustainable for all of us when people live in close proximity rather than to spread them out all over the country-side. Plus, the reason home prices are so high around here is because we don’t have enough of them (see: supply and demand). All of this says to me, build here, build now – and if you do it correctly the “interesting” part will take care of itself.
