What’s the Best Indoor Playspace in Atlanta?

    Decatur Metro | November 17, 2015 | 4:52 pm

Here’s something I was discussing with some folks over the weekend.  (Can you tell that I have an older child now?)

What’s your favorite indoor playspace in Atlanta?

Photo courtesy of Catch Air’s website, which incidentally was Best of Atlanta’s pick for Best Indoor Playspace in Atlanta in the recent Best of Atlanta awards.

Fernbank Science Center. It isn’t exactly a play space but a great place to go on a rainy day. It’s bite size and free. I used to work there and little kids love it. (It isn’t open on Sunday though.)

Fernbank Natural History Museum children’s exploration area is really nice. Unlike the Fernbank Science Center it isn’t free, but a family membership is reasonable.

Twains, Saba, Steinbecks, Leons, the Brickstore, and where ever J_T and Cubalibre happen to be dining.

Hmm…guess this teaches me not to post these types of threads at 4:30p in the afternoon. Timing is everything. Especially when it comes to posting!

Stone Mountain Park was always a good place for our boys. The Great Barn (lots of squishy balls flying around), the 4-D movie, the museum, the movie about the carving, etc. provided a good diversion on days with inclement weather.

When did they enclose Stone Mountain Park? 😉

you haven’t heard about the giant space they carved out inside the mountain? tons of good stuff in there.

          Smart aleck. 🙂

Notice I chose all the indoor spots at SMP. Of course, you have to walk outside to get to them, so I guess my list isn’t perfect.

You’re talking about the Jefferson Davis Fun Times Emporium, right?

Hippo Hop, Catch Air, & Bee’s Knees (for crafty kids). Children’s Museum is reopening. There’s supposedly a jump place at Northlake that is always empty. I also like to drive to Sugarloaf Mills or Discovery Mills, whatever it’s called now. They have carousels, glow in the dark mini golf, and crazy other stuff. It’s about a 25 minute drive.
