Amazing Video Of Lightning Storm Cloud Over Decatur Last Night

    Decatur Metro | July 25, 2015 | 10:01 am

Greg sends along this great video he took from Clairemont Ave at the Fidelity building of a lightning storm cloud that hovered over Decatur last night.

Chris reported watching at least 100 flashes of lighting as this natural “fireworks display” moved through the area.

Aside from an underlying sense of dread at the time that it was some sort of “Independence Day”-style alien invasion, it was completely mesmerizing.

Looking at this video I experienced a kind of optical illusion: It looked to me as if the cloud was in the foreground and only about twenty or thirty feet above the ground. Quite relieved when my brain readjusted my perception.

It was definitely fluffy cloud weather last night. At dusk, we were driving along Lawrenceville Hwy and 78, both directions, and saw some incredibly fluffy, massive clouds with tinges of pink. It looked more like a Western vista than Southeastern skies.

The storm was actually no where near Decatur. It was over Buford and drifted south to Conyers. The same cloud was recorded from Alpharetta too.
