Find the 32 Secret Doors Around Decatur!
Decatur Metro | July 9, 2015 | 10:13 am
A couple of weeks ago, we posted a pic of a monstrous little door outside of Color Wheel in Decatur and fishb wrote in and let us know that this door was “…part of the Secret Doors of Decatur Project. A series of 32 tiny doors created by 24 local artists hidden throughout Downtown Decatur.”
Well, now there’s a lovely little website, “Secret Doors Decatur” that documents the location of all 32 doors around the city. We encountered #8 by Thumbs_ARL above a few days back, as you can see above.
The site does provide you with the general location of each door, but with spots like the Wylde Center, Glenlake Pool, or The Solarium you can imagine that you’ll still have to do a good bit of looking to find them.
So, if you are looking for a great outdoor activity this weekend, jump on your bike or in the car and get searching! I can imagine that kids would enjoy the activity, especially if there was a reward at the end, like a tasty frozen treat.
Enjoy!

Love it!
We are so glad that Larry submitted this to the Seed Grant program. The Decatur Arts Alliance looks forward to funding more projects through the seed grants in 2015!
So cool!
My 4 year old believes these doors belong to Leprechauns. She finds them to be magical.
Tasty frozen treat? How about a bourbon and Coke slushie at Victory?
Secret Doors remind me of the The Borrowers. I loved that book as a kid. And my son’s kindergarten teacher read it to him so convincingly that he came home somewhat nervous about who lived in our tiny spaces.
We spent the better part of an hour and a half walking up and down Ponce looking for doors the other night. Got the kids real good and tired.
Love having tiny secret doors all over.
Random 8 year old question that had me stumped: “What does that tiny door go to?” Me: “….?”
We spotted #29. Now we can write a story about what lives inside and bring to life something spectacular!
Tiny Door at Glenlake Park…hint…look around the turn about in parking lot!
